Just wondering everyones opinion on drink mixes for preps. We keep a few around, some of that crappy, made-out-of-sugar lemonade mix and some crystal light tea, because we make it from time to time when I get sick of water and iced-tea.

most of the mixes have a pretty long shelf life. They're pretty much made out of sugar and flavorings so theres nothing in there to necessarily go bad.

What kind of mixes, if any, do yall store? OR are you planning on just water.

I store sugar and water and yeast and a teapot that I can use to distill the results.

I don't care for most powdered drink mixes because they are made of things that I'm not sure are actually food. I keep bottled lemon juice for lemonade, and several kinds of bottled fruit juices.

Mostly the usual suspects: tang, gatorade, tea, lemonade.

Saul,

how much water and how fast can you distil with that rig? Also, how much energy does it take, or rather, how efficient is it?

Pardon me for laughing in your face. It's a tea kettle! You heat it until it's done, that's the only thing anybody knows about it!

sorry, I didnt see your caption at the top of the picture before. I thought you were distilling water (as in capturing the steam and then condensing it in the copper pipe to yeild purified water.

I get ya now. ;)

oh, and of course iced tea, regular tea, V-8 juice etc. I bought some fresh tea tonight for the pantry, as I'd read earlier the prices are going up big time.

Heck, even Kool-Aid (w/ sugar) is better for kids than a lot of other 'kid' options that are HFCS laced imo.
