I posted this in General so that more members would see this as the promo expires this weekend.

The good news:

Bega/Red Feather canned cheddar cheese is 40% off at mredepot.com http://www.mredepot.com/servlet/the-215/kraft-bega-canned-can/Detail

You have to buy 2 or more cases and use Promotion Code 2CHEESE40% during checkout.

As I was thinking about (trying to rationalize) ordering some more of this it struck me that canned cheese would make a great barter item. It's small, sealed so people will trust it, and people (most) like cheese. And unless you live in Wisconsin, people will go nuts for this after eating whatever gruel they dish out on the gov't chow lines for weeks or months.

Oh, I mentioned there was bad. 2 cases, 507.6 ounces, now costs me just over $180 inc. shipping. 2 years ago I got more than 50% more ounces for the same price.

p.s. - I am not affiliated with this site except as an occasional customer.

I always meant to buy a can from J-son so I could see what it tatsed like before I commited to a whole case or more, but alas, I missed my window and now will not have the chance again.

I have used it and it tastes better than Kraft singles.

It is not perfect by any means (does not melt that great in microwave) but it leaves you with no doubt that you are eating cheese.

If you have ever eaten government cheese back in the day it is the same but white, they did not bother to add the color.

The butter is outstanding it unsalted/sweetened butter through and through.

I got enough so I could have 1 can every week for a year that is my personal "burn rate" for these items. I have no problem using the as daily food items they are real food not "survival food".
