I'm surprised there's no one reporting on Hurricane Earl here. Guess no one lives in a hurricane zone?

Would be great to hear 'on the ground' reports!

Ya I 'm surprised nobody's reporting about it. I know we have some folks out on the east coast. Maybe it's like earthquakes here nobody gets to excited.

An amazing photograph of Hurricane Earl taken from space was published by an American astronaut on social networking site Twitter on Tuesday.

Douglas H. Wheelock, 50, uploaded the stunning image, which was taken from the International Space Station.

The photograph -- which can be seen on Wheelock's Twitter feed @Astro_Wheels -- has since been shown on TV and online media outlets.

Dangerous weather conditions from the Category 3 storm led experts to warn of "catastrophic damage" should Earl reach land after it crosses the Caribbean on its way to the U.S.

Hurricane Earl is gathering some serious strength. It is incredible what a difference a day makes when you’re dealing with this force of nature. Please keep a watchful eye on this one...not sure if Earl will go quietly into the night like Danielle. Earl has brushed past the Virgin Islands and is expected to pass east of the islands of Turks and Caicos, and the Bahamas before possibly hitting the eastern U.S. coast later this week.

"There is a very high risk of injury or death to people, livestock, and pets due to flying and falling debris," the U.S. National Hurricane Center said on its website.

It's projected path has had no expected landfall in the United States, skirting NC and Cape Cod. It's been in the news here, but the impact is expected to be limited to Cape Cod and the Islands, and not really the metropolitan areas. For the Boston area, expecting what would be similar to a robust winter storm that we routinely get a few times per year, in terms of wind and rainfall.

Looks to me like it will stall for about a day off the coast.

I think they will update the path after that, my guess is to spill all over DC area.

I was hearing on the news that Earl has weakened to a Category 3 storm and that the "eye" of the hurricane is 85 miles offshore. I think that I heard that Cape Cod was one of the places where Earl will do some damage but the whole east coast will be affected by Earl one way or the other.
