STOCKHOLM: A senior Swedish prosecutor is reopening a rape investigation against the founder of WikiLeaks, Julian Assange, the latest twist to a case in which prosecutors of different ranks have overruled each other.

The Australian has denied the allegations and said they are a smear campaign by opponents of WikiLeaks - a whistleblower website that has angered the US by publishing thousands of leaked documents about military activities in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The case was dismissed last week by the chief prosecutor, Eva Finne, who overruled a lower-ranked prosecutor and said there was no reason to suspect Mr Assange had raped a Swedish woman who had reported him to police.

The woman's lawyer appealed against the decision and yesterday the Director of Public Prosecutions, Marianne Ny, decided to reopen the case.

You are definetely on to something there. This seems like it will continue for a long time, and it doesn't really matter what the outcome is. Further the last few years the concept of rape has changed in Sweden. For instance you may be convicted of rape without having intercourse. You may be convicted of rape among 2 consenting adults, if you have reason to believe that you were carrier of a STD... You may be convicted of rape if the consenting adult was intoxicated. The praxis of the system is that the rape victim was always female.

From what I read before It seemed that Assange had consent to the sex, and it was unprotected. But he could still get convicted. The legal system thrive on these high profile cases. So it would be perfect for an agent provocateur to try this in Sweden, were the laws have become corrupted, so that sex is a crime...

That may be the purpose. Sweden have the last decades had birthnumbers around sustenance levels (2.1 children/woman). Sweden has been in the top of EU. With the new laws only babyfactories from Somalia, and Arabic women will have children.
