Today, a 1/10 oz gold coin bought my daughter, her brother, and their four cousins a 2 1/2 hour long birthday party at Chuck E Cheese. Each child got cake, pizza, a drink, a balloon, a goody bag and a dozen tokens. For 2 1/2 hours they ran around like crazy, playing games, collecting tickets, eating cake and pizza, and having the best time a group of 3-5 year olds could ask for. They danced on the stage, played in the jungle gym and even met Mr. Chuck E Cheese himself. We had attendants bringing us beverages, serving the cake, and singing happy birthday as they produced a crown jeweled with game tokens for the birthday girl. After the party, they cleaned up the mess that six children left behind and we went home; didn't have to lift a finger. Our total bill? Just over $120.

I'm holding a tiny gold coin that you can barely feel in your hand if you don't try to notice it. It's about the size of a dime. Isn't it something that a tiny gold coin can buy you so much?

A gold coin the size of a dime can buy quite a bit IMO. For me, a 1/10 oz gold coin can buy enough orange juice to keep me happy for a long while.

;D

Nice story, thanks for sharing.

The key thing to keep in mind is, if what you want or need is not available, that coin may not buy it.

Hi MadFranks, may I ask what type of coin?
Sorry I don't have a lot of knowledge about gold coins beyond the common one ounce variety (Krugerrands, etc).

Btw, happy birthday to your daughter.

It was a 1/10 Gold American Eagle. And now, like two months after I wrote that, it would get you $140, even more!

You are far far braver than I - my hat is off to you!

The mere thought of a birthday party at Chuck E Cheese gives me a headache! Way too much noise & lights - perhaps this is why I cannot stand to be in Las Vegas casinos either.
