View Full Version : ABC News: US Army BURNS New Testament Bibles as "garbage"

I believe this needs a thread where the subject of the topic is made clear; apologies to Spectrism.
Compare the denunciations of the Zionist Occupational Government and the Jewsmedia of the private Quran burning, with this official burning of Christian holy books by the US Government. These Bibles were burned because they "offended" the Muslim trash.

Bibles Destroyed in Afghanistan... By U.S. Military
May 19, 2009 12:56 PM
On May 4, Al Jazeera English ran a report suggesting that U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan may have been violating anti-proselytizing rules by distributing Dari-and Pashto-language New Testament Bibles.
Central Command General Order No. 1 specifically forbids “proselytizing of any faith, religion or practice.†The footage came from documentary filmmaker Brian Hughes.
The report showed a service from approximately a year ago, with the head U.S. military chaplain in Afghanistan, Lt. Colonel Gary Hensley, talking about the need to spread the Gospel.
"The special forces guys -- they hunt men basically," Hensley said. "We do the same things as Christians, we hunt people for Jesus. We do, we hunt them down. Get the hound of heaven after them, so we get them into the kingdom. That's what we do, that's our business."
In another clip, Sgt. Jon Watt mentions during a Bible study class: "My church collected some money to get Bibles for Afghanistan. They came and sent the money out."
In a discussion about General Order No. 1, Watt says "you can't proselytize, but you can give gifts."
In the extended documentary footage Watt talks about how this worked in Iraq. "I bought a carpet and then I gave the guy a Bible after I conducted my business... The expressions that I got from the people in Iraq [were] just phenomenal, they were hungry for The Word."
The day of the Al Jazeera English broadcast, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Navy Adm. Mike Mullen was asked about the report.
"My reaction is twofold," Mullen said. "One is that I'm not aware of the details of this and certainly want to know more about it. Secondly, it certainly is -- from the United States military's perspective -- not our position to ever push any specific kind of religion. Period."
Pentagon officials immediately began assailing the story as "wrong." Pentagon officials said that Lt. Col. Hensley was not promoting the proselytizing of Afghans, and Watt was counseled not to distribute them.
Though a discussion about what to do with the Bibles was captured on video, Pentagon officials said the end result that the Bibles were not distributed but confiscated by the chaplain -- which is not shown in the footage.
"A documentary filmmaker was allowed onto Bagram last May to shoot footage of religious sessions involving troops," the Pentagon said. "He recorded a session where a participant displayed Bibles translated into Dari and Pashto that had been sent to him by his church back home. After a discussion of how or if they should be distributed, the chaplain running the service reaffirmed Gen. Order No. 1 and the Bibles were not distributed and were confiscated."
As to the Lt. Col. Hensley urging his congregation to hunt people for Jesus, the Pentagon official said the chaplain was speaking in general terms and not urging them to go out into Afghanistan to convert locals.
(That, of course, does not touch the issue of Sgt. Watt distributing Bibles in Iraq.)
On May 5, Army spokeswoman Major Jennifer Willis told Reuters that at Bagram Air Force Base in Afghanistan "the Bibles shown on Al Jazeera's clip were, in fact, collected by the chaplains and later destroyed. They were never distributed."
Today, Christian Broadcasting's David Brody says "the Bibles were burned because the rules on the base say that all garbage is burned at the end of the day. But just asking here; if the U.S. Military seized a stack full of Korans, would they be burned? You think that might cause a little outrage in the Muslim world?"
Brody also makes note of The Great Commission in the Book of Matthew where Jesus says "(G)o and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you."

Enough of this bullshit.
They can do what ever they want, WE are the rock they are trying to tumble. We need to keep, strength.
Burning books is against our constitution, against our values, against our religions. You want to justify stooping to their levels, that's your right.
I will not sink to their levels, and I suggest you not. This is one thing worth fighting for, imo.

So what exactly is the correct method for disposing of a bible anyway?

As far as I know, there is no guidlines for Bible disposal. Most Christians dont think a Bible in itself as a sacred item, and could be disposed of by any means you would throw away any other book. BUT Its whats in the Bible that is sacred. To burn it out of malice is an insult to Christianity and God himself.Basically, this reminds me of a newspaer cartoon i seen once, it showed two toilets ,one with a Koran, the other with a Bible stuck in the bowl, over the Bible toilet it said "Art' over the Koran toilet the sign read "Hate Crime"

Makes sense I dont think that ehey were burned out of malace in the OP so it would not be a great crime in my mind.
The only reason this is such a big deal is the media wants it to be so people will not find out what is really going on. Any story to distract from the economic truth that we are being robbed blind and forced into slavery.

We are just making penance in advance of the pastor's koran burning. A stupid public relations act on the part of the military.
It is entirely reasonable that there be a proscription against military member recruiting for a religious cult (reasonable, that is, unless one casts the ME wars in religious terms). As to the disposal of the offending material, how else to do it? I suppose they could have asked for contributions to have them shipped back to the U.S. for distribution by the same group(s) that paid to have them printed in the first place.

The proper way to dispose of the US flag is to burn it. I guess it's not so much the act as the attitude that matters.

The "media" has a job, and that is to engineer perception.
The "media" is fanning the flames of religious war, between two target groups, in order that they may hate and destroy each other, presumably to the benefit of a third group.
It seems that the third group is getting exactly the reaction they expect, and that they will be successful in their endeavours.

I'm so sick of the double standard being applied to the whole "burn the Koran" issue. It seems that burning anything else is all peaches and cream, but don't you dare burn the "holy" Koran. In my local paper they ran a story about some coalition of religious leaders condemning the Florida pastor for threatening to burn the Koran, and in the same article, they reported that in retaliation to this threat, mobs of Islamics burned effigies of the pastor wrapped in American flags, yet no condemnation or even disapproval mentioned in the article over that burning. And now the military burns a pile of Bibles as garbage because it's illegal to share one's faith. The hypocrisy makes me sick.
By the way (sort of off topic, sorry), when I was a kid, I had an aunt who was into witchcraft (thankfully she repented and accepted Christ before she died), and when my dad found her witchcraft books, we took them in the back yard and burned them. I have to agree with Phoenix on this one, burning Satanic inspired books doesn't bother me one bit.

FACT: Islam has been an enemy of Western civilization since Muhammad puked out the Quran 14 centuries ago.
FACT: Islam has had to be repulsed with great violence several times after they tried to take over Europe, notably by Charles Martel and Jan III Sobieski.
FACT: the Quran teaches killing and barbarism against non-Muslims.
It is no longer a mystery why some people around here are defending Muslims and Islam, and claiming the facts of Islam are "made up" by the "Zionist media." THEY ARE SYMPATHIZERS. That makes them the Enemy. The enemy of my enemy is NOT my friend. If you think Mooslims are such wonderful folks, please, move to Saudi Arabia. PM your address, and I'll buy you the one-way airline ticket.

FACT: the US Army BURNED brand-new New Testaments. Yet the JEW-S Government demands we not burn even used, worn-out Qurans. Doesn't matter if they were classed as garbage or not; they were TREATED as such.

Most definitely I know what orders are, i was in a long time ago, when the Military represented the PEOPLE of the US, not some Communist puppets with a ZIonist puppet master . We didnt burn Bibles. Nor would we have stood by and watch the flag burned by the very people we conquered,Petraus is a poor leader, and a Zionist controlled politician in the making. "Rumor" has it that Sixtus Petraeus, his daddy, was a Dutch Jew. He was definitely a committed "anti-Nazi" who fled Holland.

Pastor canceled plan to burn Qurans after call from Pentagon
By Luisa Yanez and Nancy A. Youssef | McClatchy Newspapers
http://www.mcclatchydc.com/2010/09/09/100340/quran-burning-canceled-in-florida.html
WASHINGTON — The pastor of a Florida church announced Thursday he is calling off his plans to burn copies of the Quran on Saturday -- the anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.
Rev. Terry Jones' announcement that he was canceling the event came shortly after Defense Secretary Robert Gates phoned him from the Pentagon and told him that the event would put American soldiers at risk in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Pentagon officials confirmed the phone call and said Gates placed it at about 4 p.m. Eastern time.
"Secretary Gates reached out to Pastor Jones this afternoon," Gates' press secretary, Geoff Morrell, said. "They had a very brief phone conversation during which the Secretary expressed his grave concern that going forward with the Quran burning would put at risk the lives of our forces around the world, especially those in Iraq and Afghanistan, and he urged the pastor not to proceed with it."
Morrell would not say if the White House asked Gates to make the call or whether Jones told him in that phone call that he planned to call off the event. Although there were concerns that making such a call would lead to copycats seeking a call from top administration officials, the secretary felt that "if that phone call could save the life of one man or woman in uniform, that call was worth placing," Morrell said.
Hours earlier, President Barack Obama urged the pastor to cancel his plans, saying they would provide a recruiting "bonanza" for al Qaida.
The cancellation capped a week of escalating pressure from the Obama administration that began on Monday when Army Gen. David Petraeus , the commander of U.S. forces in Afghanistan, said the demonstration would increase the risk for U.S. troops there.
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Wednesday cabled U.S. ambassadors around the world with instructions to denounce the demonstration, and the State Department warned Americans overseas that the potential for anti-U.S. demonstrations was high in response to Jones' plans. Earlier, Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al Malaki told the U.S. ambassador in Baghdad that the Obama administration needed to do all it could to "prevent" the Quran burning from taking place.
Jones said on CNN Thursday afternoon that instead of burning copies of the Quran on Saturday, he will fly to New York City to meet with Muslim leaders who had hoped to build a mosque near the site of Ground Zero.
``If they were willing to move that we would consider that a sign from God,'' Jones said.
Jones worked out the meeting with the help of Imam Muhammad Musri of Islamic Society of Central Florida, who spoke in Gainesville after Jones.
``I want to thank him and his church for making the decision today and to bring to a peaceful end what would have been a spectacle,'' said Musri, who said he will accompany Jones on his trip to New York.
``The placement of a mosque near the Ground Zero location it has been a provocation for many people to be violent against mosques across the nation,'' Musri said.
Obama said in an interview on ABC's ``Good Morning America,'' that the pastor's plan would help U.S. enemies, calling it a ``a recruitment bonanza for al-Qaida.''
``I just want him to understand this stunt he's talking about pulling could greatly endanger our young men and women in uniform,'' Obama said.
