Deleveraging.
You've heard this term a lot because it's a huge deal, and the fact that households are still deeply in debt (though not as bad as they were two years ago) is a major drag on consumer spending.
In a new report from Deutsche Bank's Peter Hooper and Torsten Slok, this issue is examined more deeply -- how much deleveraging has been done, why it's ongoing, and how much more there is.
Their conclusion -- yes, we've already made substantial progress, but we'll be doing a lot more, through at least 2012.

Call me strange but I don't have a problem with that being THE threat. I am certain though that there will be another crisis manufactured just in the nick of time so the people don't actually become free.

Is taking your eye of the group of people who are responsible for the mass of financial and economic woes.
Keep your long knives sharp and pointed at them.

I don't think we know the names of that many, and the one's we do will be long out of reach or already are. Certainly Bush and many others are guilty of treason and mass murder. Certainly the global elite and many of the top banksters are also guilty of mass murder. But don't stick your neck out, with infinite fiat comes massive power. Hold on until a victory is certain, something that we are a very very long way away from.

Serious question: How do we know when/if we 'have victory'?

There may be isolated or regional victories in the future. A massive move toward a hard currency, or serious tax and regulation revolts are examples.
But I do not believe those things are coming anytime soon, even at some local level. Truth is being attacked now, now that all the other battles have been won by TPTB. (They have all the global financial, military and media strings completely controlled and corrupted for their own success)
At this point the key is to retain true knowledge and persist to some future time where a tipping or snapping point might occur. Revolutions rarely result in real change for the better. Plan A has never worked, and Plan B has no definition.
When (and IF) we see a day where the spectators of the globe recognize that the thousands of years of historic evidence prove that taxes are evil, then a change could be at hand. Basically, people in large numbers need to arrive at a point where they recognize that the word "tax" should be the most hated, ugly 4-letter word ever created. They must know the famous quote by TJ by heart and the one by Lord Acton as well. We are a very very long way from that point - most of the world believes that taxes are a good thing as long as they are implemented correctly, and most of the world is looking to the same people who create the problems to be the ones to solve them.

Good point funny money but "tax" is a 3-letter word.
Sorry for the nitpicking...

When they call it a threat to the economy, I think they're referring to the BS ponzi-scheme economy most everyone's gotten used to.

interesting bias, they breakdown the asset classes, but not income ones (real jobs, SS, interest, capital gains, loans on 401k, boat accident site recoveries, etc)

Maybe the job would be easier if it wasn't, but I doubt it. Turning it into a 4 letter word is going to be a lot more difficult than simply adding another x to the end. The sheep have evolved with the dog directing them. This is going to be a very long uphill battle. I don't really think a few thousand gold bugs and freedom seekers are going to get their attention. And even if they do pay attention for a bit, they rarely understand much and are easily distracted by the symptom issues, falling back into the safety of the status quo quickly. Ignorance is their bliss.

When Jesus Christ returns.
The game plan shall remain the same as it's been since Babylon. Until it is destroyed with great violence by the only Man who can.
Claims that "the People" will "set things right" are not only laughable - they're insane.
The banksters would gladly kill a billion people - two, three, four, all of us, indeed - before they'd ever let go of their monumental and satanic scams. They will have to be forced to surrender. We will never be strong enough. Only God is.
The majority will follow along with whatever is dished out by the demons...devaluation, revaluation, confiscation, anything, just so long as the ball keeps playing and the booze keeps flowing. The majority will accept universal ID cards, digital/biometric mandatory "single pay" transaction systems, total surveillance...they'll accept it all. Give them a couple free months of Dish Network and some digits on their FreedomPay Card to pay for beer, and they'll line up for the Mark of the Beast with a big smile.

This has been, is currently and will be the #1 threat to the economy.
