Rev. Terry Jones stated that a FBI agent had visited his home the day before and while pointing to the hot tub asked Jones, "How long can you hold your breath?" This greatly influenced the Pastors decision, he stated.
(OK, I made this part up)

Well not too far from the truth I guess (from your link above):
On Saturday, New York Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said police met with Jones and plan to keep a "close tab on him" for his own safety.
"His safety could be an issue, and we emphasized that to him last evening. And, he seemed to agree. You know. We would like to make certain that he remains safe while he's in this city."

"It would be a shame if he were to fall in the river and disappear or have a loved one slip down a flight of stairs," added the commissioner.
(Alright, I did that.)

I wonder how credible the threat had to be to make him buckle?

Arrrrgh. C'mon guys and gals. Say this guy is talking to God, would he be scared of dying? No. Say this guy is being paid to stir up a fight between Christians and muzzes for a paycheck, mission accomplished.* There are all sorts of stories about fights and riots and protests going off about this. The jews are laughing. Next time they poll the average American about bombing muzlim Iran what do you think the numbers will look like?
*and if it's mission accomplished wouldn't he back off while his head is still attached?

"Terrible, terrible things could happen to your granddaughter, Pastor Jones. You know, one of these Islamist extremists could kidnap her and take her to Saudi Arabia for sex slavery..."

His web host pulled his website. If he was an "agent," his website would be hosted at Fort Meade.

It's so great to have "freedom of speech" in America, isn't it?
