someone at Kitco said there was specific language in the Patriot Act, giving the US gov. the alleged right to seize assets including precious metals, not from terrorists but from the general public.

so i figure it's worth reading. but - i thought it was a 1000 pages.

Hey, Gundriller:

I downloaded one of the PDFs and doing a quick search for the words "gold," "precious," "metal," or "bullion" gives 0 results. Searches for "seize," "seizure" and "property" yields many returns. So far, and I have not gone through all of them, the bulk of the returns refer to money (FRNs) or other monetary instruments (bonds, notes. . .etc).

Property is a general term and PMs are considered property. Without reading further, and I am out of time (have to go to a cousin's wedding reception), I suspect the gov't could, if someone was deemed a "terrorist" or a "sponsor" of terrorism, the gov't could seize PMs, if found. WHO HAS PMS? I do not.
