First off that is a painting, not a picture. It's not a snapshot in time, they did not have camera's back then.

Regarding decendants, that gives no indication they meant only white decendants. It's worded the way it is, so it can be applied to all people from all nationalities that are American.

First of all I never used the term 'stir up'...I HATE that term. It implies that other people aren't responsible for their emotions and thoughts. Second, I'll be specific as to the types of things that I've been seeing lately that I believe are counterproductive.

I see unfounded accusations, some of them against good posters. I see inordinate blame being directed at blacks/hispanics, or loose correlations, or assumptions that are unlikely to hold up. I see the subject of race interjected into threads that have no bearing on race. I see adhominem attacks offered as arguments to those that that challenge ideas on race.

The disheartening thing from my perspective is that this issue has tended to cause petty arguments among posters that I respect (you are one of them), and these arguments have taken time away from more important subjects and exposures (like causes, not symptoms). And it also disturbs me that I know that this race war thing is very high on the bad guys' list...and I see it enfolding right in front of my eyes on this very forum.
