I have learned to distrust them. They've written lots of pro-war and pro big pharma ads over the years. They discuss politics but never expose the Fed.

Some of their general info is useful though.

Please point us all out to another magazine that understands the issues and interests of people trying to be sustainable, smart, healthy and aware? I don't agree with everything anyone says about anything, but I look forward to my issue hitting the mailbox everytime. I wish that they would have more in depth coverage on projects (e.g. the greenhouse - if I was to build that thing it would be a complete nightmare without a lot more research). Overall it gives great ideas for a lot of the things that people that live in the backwoods can use.
