NEW YORK (AP) -- Chase's online banking service was down for much of the day on Tuesday. The bank said it stemmed from a technical problem and that it was working to resolve it.

The service went down Monday night, potentially affecting its 16.5 million customers who bank online. Chase spokesman Thomas Kelly couldn't specify the exact time service was disrupted.

The bank will work with any customers who had online bill payment deadlines they couldn't meet because of the outage, Kelly said. He also urged Chase customers to use the telephone banking service, which was operating normally, as were its 15,500 ATMs.

Online bankers who logged on to its website Tuesday, http://www.chase.com, were met with a note that said: "Our website is temporarily unavailable. We're working quickly to restore access. Please log on later."

Chase bank is part of JPMorgan Chase & Co.

Yeah it's down for me for the last couple days. Wonder what they will do if you need to pay your CC and can't.

Well, whatever you do, don't be late on your CC payment, it'll cost you an extra $40, several months ago I got within a few days of my due date, so instead of trusting the mail, I just went into a branch and paid, it gets credited that day, and from what they told me about being late, they will not wave a late fee, and they will not accept any excuse either, at least that what the scumbag eggplant told me over the phone :D

I haven't used my CC since WaMu went down.

Hell, the WaMu card is still in my wallet - I don't know if it even works anymore, and I really don't care!

Back up as of yesterday paid the ole card off.
