"We were going to do RFID, on several levels, how hackable, how trackable, etc etc."
"We were supposed to chat with Texas Instruments....during our conference call, we are also put on the phone with American Express, Visa, all our sponsors"
"The advertisers made it clear that the discovery channel would not be allowed to do the episode on RFID"

In case you didn't know, RFID is not very secure. They've tried encryption with okay results, serious hackers can get into any RFID system that I know of. Recently, some "hackers" from MIT got into the subway system of a major city....IN UNDER 12 minutes. They hacked the system without telling anyone, to prove how vulnerable it was. The only thing that kept them out of jail was that they promised to help make it more secure. This was covered at Defcon, the anual hacking convention.

The Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority (MBTA) has dropped its federal case against three MIT researchers, “the subway hackers”. This happened in October and now the EFF brings news that the students will be working with the MBTA to improve their system. The overall goal is to raise security while keeping expenses minimal.

This whole mess started in August when a gag order was issued against the students’ presentation at Defcon. It’s a shame no one ever saw it because it covers a lot of interesting ground. A PDF of the banned slides is still online. They performed several attacks against both the subway’s fare system and physical security. Our favorites by far were using GNU Radio to sniff the RFID card’s transaction and bruteforcing Mifare Classic with an FPGA.

That's not the real director of operations. But the computer thought he was.

Isn't it kind of the same either way?

Either he is telling the truth, and has been prohibited by major companies from doing an episode on RFID

or

He is lying, and has been prohibited by TPTB from doing a show on RFID

I mean really what's the difference? End result is the same, RFID expose is not going public

That's how I see it

This just goes to show us, once again, that no matter what, we do not get the real story on anything. TPTP have the money and the lawyers to squash anything they don't want us to see, hear or read. Period.

My God (said as a prayer) that laughter was so surreal (creepy).

They just don't want the general public to be made aware of the crappy technology they'll be asked to entrust their personal data to until it's too late to do anything about it because everyone has gone along with it.
