I want to urge everyone to start downloading youtube videos in order to fight censorship. They are usually very small in size and it's easy to do at the above link (among others). I can't tell you how many videos I've seen that then get pulled which are tremendous videos and great tools for sharing information.
One common thing I think all of us GSUSers can agree on is freedom of information, so this to me seems like a logical step for anyone who wants to preserve freedom of information.

& I wish we had a "Beginner/Education" area to preserve the pertinent ones here too.

www.real.com offers a utility that downloads videos, converts formats, and plays them. It's very nice.

Ive also had pretty good luck with ....Any Video Converter. Seems Like a decent program, been using it for a while now.
Can DL and Covert youtube. Also converts from any format to just about any other format.

Something I've noticed more and more recently, youtube has been adding code to their videos to prevent them from being hotlinked.
They do this by adding a commercial to the beginning of a video.
If you look at the link compared to one without it, you will see the added letters and question mark you will need to remove to get it to hotlink.
Next time I see one I'll show you this.

This one looks pretty good on features although yet to try it. I was talking with someone who was using a download app that was able to find the various parts of multi part youtube videos and download them all and apparently stitch them together for a single video. They couldn't remember the name of it so I am still looking for something that fits that description.
I use a plug in for firefox. It can download and convert to another couple of formats. You can queue videos up for download. Doesn't find the multi parts for you or stitch them together, you have to do that but it works well. Called: download helper.

I forgot the easiest way to DL youtube videos .
You have the option of saving the videos in 3gp , flv and mp4 formats .
All you have to do is to add the word " kiss " to the address bar of the youtube video between the www and youtube .com which will look like the following (space added so as not to hyperlink)
"www .kissyoutube.com/watch?v="
with the desired video address at the end. Then select the video format you want in the Video Download Detail box on the page that opens.

There's a free program called youtubedownloader that I have used with good result, but it needs updating from time to time as Youtube finds ways to shut it down now and then.
