US recession ended in June 2009 September 21, 2010 - 1:09AM
AP
t's official: The longest recession the United States has endured since World War II ended in June 2009, according to a group that dates the beginning and end of recessions.
The National Bureau of Economic Research, a panel of academic economists based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, says the recession lasted 18 months.
It started in December 2007 and ended in June 2009. That was the longest of any recession since World War II. Previously the longest postwar downturns were those in 1973-1975 and in 1981-1982. Both of those lasted 16 months.

YIPEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!
I am sooooooooo happy that the recession has ended, that I am ready to spend some money. Since it is "official" that the recession has ended, then lets throw a massive party. It's party time. :sarc: :sarc: :sarc: :sarc: :sarc: :sarc: :sarc:
Don't worry about the lingering "realistic" high unemployment rate of 20%. Don't worry about the 99ers that still do not have a job. Just go out and spend spend spend your way into oblivion. Everything will be alright. Don't worry, be happy. :sarc: :sarc: :sarc: :sarc:

"Unlike many countries where a recession is defined as two consecutive quarters of shrinking growth domestic product, in the United States it is determined by a seven-member NBER panel."
The recession is over because we say it is! The power of making fiat money is not enough, now they think they can make fiat economies!

Oh for f*ck sake, they want to keep throwing lies after lies. There must be some mathematic equation that says news like this will keep the sheep quiet for X amount of day or weeks. Bottom-line, ITZ COMING folks. This isn't a fire drill anymore. The rats are leaving the ships, the put options have been made and the last ounces of what's left have been spoken for.
PREP OR DIE.

...the put options have been made and the last ounces of what's left have been spoken for.
PREP OR DIE.
What are the put options that have been placed? Is there some unusual put action on the market? I have not seen that.
Also, I went to APMEX web site and did not see that many "out of stock" items as compared to other times I have seen in the past. There were plenty of 1/10 ounce gold eagles and the spread between the buy and sell price looked quite normal.
Of course it is a lie that the recession has ended, the govt numbers on how they measure CPI, GDP and a whole slew of stats is nothing short of fraud.
I do agree about the "prep or die" part, it could potentially get that bad before the end of this decade. Every middle class household should be buying some one ounce silver coins and a 1/10 or 1/4 ounce gold coin every month or so, at least. To not do so is taking a huge risk.

DOW just 3000 points away from complete recovery!
It won't be long now for aging boomers to start buying $60k Escalades, RV's, boats and big homes, home theaters, expensive vacations!
Good times!
