The put $ amount isn't very high all things considered. Sept/Oct is the seasonal crash time, I assume this is just smaller speculators.

Hey, I just went long S&P! ;D at least until tomorrow ...or Thrusday er..maybe Friday. If lucky, next Friday. Puts do not mean its going to crash. Means someone taking a long shot gamble at it crashing, hence the low entry and massive $ on exit if right. Nice to be 'in the money' though.
