I'm thinking someone on here can either tell me outright or lead me in the right direction of laws regarding this. Illinois campus, I have FOID card and want to purchase my first pistol. Will I be able to store it in this "on campus" apartment? I don't live in university dorms or anything but an apartment and can't find anything in my Realtor's policy book. I also don't want to ask them because I don't want to raise any flags.
Thanks for any info.

You have all the rights of ownership while you are living there provided you pay the rent. If it is not mentioned in your rental agreement, then any ambiguities in a contract are resolved in favor of the side that did not write the contract.
Different state, but probably pretty similar:

Comply with the local laws as best you can but do realize the laws are not on the books to help you.
The laws are there to help the criminals that are attempting to prey on you in the street, the court houses and those that wear Blue and black uniforms.
Again,Comply with the law but use your own sound judgement Cause should the moment of truth ever present itself no one will be their to protect you but the tools in your possesion at the time.
stay safe.

If you believe that there is a such thing as a gun Law, i wouldnt bother even getting one. Im not trying to be rude, and Im sure you just want to follow the 'Law', and not get hassled. But that doesnt make it Right, Moral or Just now does it?
Do you understand the difference between a Right and a Privilege?
EVERY man/woman/child has the divine Right to defend his/her Life, Liberty and Property. By any means needed. And that RIGHT " shall not be infringed...."
When we allow even the smallest amount of 'infringement' (License, register, tax) we lose the ability to keep Government contained, which is the very definition of Liberty. Liberty = Containing Government.
Please reconsider, get yourself a firearm, BE RESPONSIBLE, and keep your mouth closed about your personal private business. If anything should arise as a problem, be prepared to CLAIM, STAND UPON, and DEFEND your divine Right to self protection of you and your family's Life, Liberty, and Property.
Better yet, write them a letter and tell them your doing so. That way your arent 'hiding' anything.

Whether there is a rule against it or not, they shouldn't know you have the firearm, or any reason to suspect you do, so it shouldn't matter.

Yukon, the only thing I'd like to add to this discussion, is that since we are talking about on campus housing. Chances are, all your neighbors are going to be college kids...hence, probably a lot of wild parties in the apartment complex.
The last thing you want, is some drunk kid to find your firearm. Remember, you are responsible for it, and that can make it a big liability if something goes wrong.
As others said, keep your yapper shut if you do. Also, make damn sure nobody can find it. Your situation is/may be unique and require extra caution.
Be safe.

Yukon,
Since even though your are Illinois you shouldn't have a problem. Only if the town you live within or the building owners had restrictions would you be limited.
I would take to heart the advise above with crazy parties and drunk college students.
If you have dumbass roomates, can you trust them not to let random people enter your place for a party?
Drunk college kids do the dumbest things.
What about the security of your apt or the apt building itself.
College campuses can have a flurry of criminal activity.
The whole "on campus" thing is to get you to pay obscene prices for an apartment you can rent cheaper 1-2 miles away.

Most campuses are run by libtards so there's probably a policy of no guns on campus.
