The internet is shut off for me

This is one of the few sites that I can get to work. Google dead, yahoo dead, its about 3:15am here eastern time... real weird stuff, perhaps a cleansing of the search engines?

Anyone else notice this? yahoo messenger is dead too. NOAA works flawlessly....

Server not found

Firefox can't find the server at www.google.com.

* Check the address for typing errors such as
ww.example.com instead of
www.example.com

* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.

* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

google is online now... Yahoo also.

Sometimes ISP's change things around. Swap out a router or replace a DNS server. They might even have multiple links to the greater internet and one of those links handles traffic to a specific part of the net where traffic to specific web sites goes. If they are working on them or they go down for some reason access can get slow or stop altogether. I notice things like that from time to time where I am. We might have excellent access to local australian web sites but no access to US web sites or even we lose access to westcoast US sites while we can still get east coast US web sites. A quick trace route can show you how far along the path to your desired destination the internet is connected.
