This is a work of fiction. The characters and events described herein exist only in my imagination, and are not based on people and facts as "we know them today".
However, I cannot say, nor can anyone, that what is described here will never happen. Our food balance is as precarious as our relations with certain other countries in the world community. We have become a nation confident the the energy and talents of our farmers, combined with modern technology, can produce more than enough food for the country's millions. For now, the shelves of grocery stores and supermarkets are full, and restaurants and fast-food chains thrive from coast to coast. But don't you feel it all could happen? And if did, would any of us be ready for it?
