A lot of the ranchers in this area do the grass fed. This year has been terrible , had a hell of a rain over one week , then drought. Where they would get 3 cuttings of hay in a normal year , this year some got 2 and others only 1.

Grain fed, has a better taste than pure grass fed, and the marbling of the meat is better. But because of the cost, most do not do it. Only combo grass/grain to sell to the local meat packers
or them selfs/friends. The other cows go to auction and then to the feed lots.
