Miguel Vargas desperately fought to avoid being pulled into the chipper after the rope was fed into the churning mechanism.
----
He was feeding branches into the chipper when a rope that had been used by one of the tree trimmers somehow slipped over his neck.

Unable to reach the emergency shut off button, Vargas desperately tried to avoid being dragged head first into the machine where he would have been chopped to bits.

According to his boss Dwayne Wilson the force of the rope looped around his neck was so great that he was decapitated.

Wilson said: 'I heard a piece of metal and I ran back to shut the machine down and when I did, I looked and saw him on the ground.

'The force of the wood chipper pulling the rope, Miguel struggled against the rope trying to escape the chipper but was decapitated within seconds.'

People vastly underestimate the power of mechanical force. Even a small piece of common equipment like a drill can break your arm in a split second.

Safety first always. Whenever I work around power equipment, I clear away objects that shouldn't be around the work area. I rid my body of anything that could get caught in the machine, like rings, watch etc. Also, I don't recommend working with power equipement without a buddy watching.

For a piece of equipment that can be purchased anywhere by anyone, it amazes me that there are not more chainsaw casualties/fatalities. They are one of the most dangerous common household items out there. Even as an experience cutter, I still take all the precautions you noted and then some.

The rest of the story:

Dwayne Wilson quickly realized that Vargas was an illegal alein and therefore by law, is not subject to compensation, lawsuits or retribution.
You see not being a US citizen, Vargas, or what ever his real name was, does not exist!
Dwayne looked both ways and noticed no one else saw the horrific accident and quickly lifted the torso and limbs to feed them to the chipper.
Dwayne went back to work as nothing had happened!
