IRS to stop mailing out paper tax forms

Tax forms will be available in January from the IRS website or at select libraries and Post Offices.

By The Associated Press
The Internal Revenue Service says it will no longer mail out tax packages with forms and instructions for filing a paper return. The change comes as an increasing number of taxpayers are filing their returns electronically.
In early October, taxpayers who filed paper returns last year will instead get a postcard from the IRS with instructions on where and how to get the forms needed for filing 2010 returns. In short, the forms will be available in January from the IRS website or at select libraries and Post Offices.

The IRS says people who file electronically can get refunds deposited directly into their bank accounts in as little as 10 days. Otherwise it can take up to six weeks to get a refund check in the mail.

The IRS says the move will reduce mailing costs. But the change also reflects changing habits; The majority of individual filers now file electronically. Just 8% of individual taxpayers got paper forms and instructions in the mail last year. The rest either filed electronically or used a paid tax preparer or software.

Taxpayers can file returns electronically for free on the IRS website, www.irs.gov. The agency also gives free electronic filing help to those who earn $58,000 or less through a program that walks taxpayers through their returns by asking a series of questions about income, expenses and other financial transactions.

Thirteenth Amendment to the US Constitution:

"Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction."

So tell me how being forced to seek out and procure the right forms, use my own valuable time to fill them out correctly, prepare payment and deliver it to the IRS all on my own dime and time is not a violation of that amendment? I consider the dozen hours or so I spend on it every year to be servitude to the state, involuntary on my part.

Then quit consenting to the government or are you not willing to stand on your own two feet and take responsibility for yourself.
If you want to be untaxed then you must not volunteer to participate in Social Security.

I never gave my consent for the gov't to tax me to hell and back, and I never volunteered to participate in SS, nor for them to levy SS taxes from me. If I quit "consenting" and refuse to pay taxes, I'll either be in jail or dead.

Somewhere along the way you volunteered in. Silence is acceptance. If you had never filed a 1040 form the IRS would never be expecting one from you every year, you'd be completely off their radar.

no, not neccessarily true. You can only be off the IRS's radar by nothing being reported to the SSA via the W3 transmittal from the employer.
I have a file on my work PC that has the statute where it says all IRS data is updated from the SSA records.
The IRS gets how much income your receive for the year from the SSA for earning SS 3121(a) "wages".

I suppose I should have included, "unless of course you're an employee, in which case you're screwed all the way around."
