I got my dobie Enzo from IammeIamfree back in March and he turned me on to Orijen dog food, which is awesome. It's helped with my Shepards shedding etc., but it's fricken expensive, $85 for a 28lb bag and the two of them burn through two bags a month.

So today I was at the place I get the food, I was bitching about the price, and since all the girls there love me said that if I should go to this website https://www.naturaadvantage.com/ I can get a coupon for a free 5 - 6 lb bag. They highly recommended EVO.

So I'm just passing it along.

BTW - The best food for dogs is a home made raw diet, and most of the dog food on the market is poison. And since I don't have a large freezer I have to buy packaged dog food. What I do know is that by spending extra money on good food, you can extend your dogs life 5 - 10 years. The reason I know this is when I had to put my 12 year old rottie down two months ago it ripped my heart out, and I've been doing a lot of research on the topic.

Thanks for that, turns out that a place that is one of their retailers is just down the road, I drive past it 3 times a week.

Cool SJS, even if it helps one person to post this thread, and their dogs like it and they end up living a few years longer it's well worth it. I don't want to say that I was devastated when I put Jinx down, but it really really cut me deep and there hasn't been a day I haven't thought about her, and I WILL NOT allow Enzo and Indy die early because of my lack of feeding them correctly. NEVER AGAIN.

that coupon is tempting, but I hate giving someone my history; to store in the data base and sell it to others... ;D

A couple years ago my Australian Sheperd got mouth cancer and I had to put her down. She only lived to be 9 years old and this breed is known to live 17 years. All I ever fed her was Nutro Max, which I had been told was the best dog food for the money. How else could she have gotten cancer?

I'm feeding my new pup the Natural Advantage along with raw chicken and canned salmon. I may go to all raw food later.

Just my opinion, but I doubt she got cancer from the dog food....unless it was loaded with benzene or dioxins

We don't really know what's in dog food. Nutro Max is all she ate. What else could have caused the cancer? I had the dog 9 years and never saw her being subjected to any carcinogens, just the dog food. It's possible that something else caused it but I can't imagine what.
BTW, I heard benzene is a great preservative. If you read the ingredients on any dog food you can only surmise that it takes powerful preservatives to keep all those ingredients from spoiling at room temperature for weeks or months.

Licking water out of road puddles, plastic things they chew on, smoking too much...

Mine didn't drink out of puddles or smoke cigarettes.

I just got an Aussie pup a couple weeks ago. So far she's the smartest dog I've ever had. We'll see how she takes to herding as she matures.

Talk to her. It's amazing how well they understand english if you keep repeating. The one pictured is half Aussie and half Heeler.
