New 4th Gen Glock

I added a new Gen 4 Glock 19 that I spotted at the shop.

Haven't had a chance to take it to the club yet. I "needed" another Glock 19 and when I saw this I bought it.

Glock 17 with Lasermax Uni-Green laser

I added a Lasermax uni-green on my Glock 17 recently. it's a rail mounted uni-green "green laser" on Glock 17. Interesting that the laser is visible in daylight and does not give the gun a wierd profile like bulky handgun lasers. I actually like it enough that I may buy a few more to mount on some other weapons.

Should never leave home without enough ammo for a good time - a very good time.

Outstanding!

You're a much better shot than me.

And I supose, in some strange overly protective way, we should all be glad that you're not an octopus.

I like the laser site. nice small profile. Excellent shooting. I was at the range last night. I'm getting there but I have to say at about 20 yards I cant see how I'm shooting. I hope others can't without closer inspection otherwise I have a problem. Can I ask what holsters they are with the mag holder on them?

Also how do you rate the 4th gen compared to 3rd? I can see a few obvious differences based on the pics. I assume the mags are not interchangable? Or is that an extention on the 3rd gen grip, not the mag itself?

The grip profile looks a little different and the sites are different but other than that... whats the main differences?

Cheers

I personally only shoot with the factory sights.

I may consider getting some tritium or fiber optic sights in the future, but I am at a point in my shooting experience (very little experience) where I really want to train my mind and body to shoot using basic fundamentals and stock sights.

Maybe in the future I'll buy some tactical add-ons, but for now I am just building skills and training to shoot consistently.

Hey BlackBlade, nice shooting! Is that Gen 4 the RTF model?

the holsters in the picture are just cheap Bulldog holsters (about $15-$18). I buy these holsters for storing guns since I usually have several types in different nylon bags. They keep them from rubbing against each other and any other supplies.

The Gen 4 has rubber nubs and comes with two extra backstraps. I have the factory sights on this although I tried a Laserlyte but it wouldn't adjust so I sh*t-canned it. I can always add a lasermax if I want. I have an internal red Lasermax on one of my Glock 26 guns (replaces the guide rod and operates on/off with an extended takedown lever pushed from either side).

So no RTF then?

I think that's the only way that they come now (Rough Texture Frame). I changed out the factory sight for a Laserlyte sight but I couldn't adjust it so I removed it and restored the factory sight. I also left the current backstrap on as it fits my hands well as it is.

I finally got a chance to get out to the gun club late yesterday afternoon. It was a nice 71F, partly cloudy with a steady 5-10 mph breeze from the southwest. It was about an hour before sunset which gave me enough time to run the Gen 4 through its paces.

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll287/jhwarner1/SheridanGuns/BHM1.jpg

I quickly set up a couple targets downrange for test firing at 20' and 30'.

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll287/jhwarner1/SheridanGuns/Gen4G19Range1a.jpg

I had to really tack them down as I had that constant wind from left to right.

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll287/jhwarner1/SheridanGuns/Gen4G192a.jpg

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll287/jhwarner1/SheridanGuns/Gen4G193a.jpg

I took a hundred rounds of Blazer ammo since I figured that was about all the time I had to test the gun.

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll287/jhwarner1/SheridanGuns/Gen4G19202a.jpg

I first fired at 20' at the target on the left. My first shots drifted to the left. It was then I noticed that I didn't quite get the sights centered well enough. I took the brass punch and drifted the sight slightly to the left and continued to shoot more toward the center.

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll287/jhwarner1/SheridanGuns/Gen4G19302a.jpg

At 30' it took a few shots to find my best firing line and to allow my eyes to focus. I probably should have brought more ammo but I made the best of it. Besides it was getting late.

Overall it's a nice gun. The trigger is smooth and felt recoil is on par with what you would expect from a 9mm Glock. It was actually quite nice and will make a good companion piece to my Gen 3 Glock 19. I would say that it's well worth the money as long as it maintains the Glock quality, reliability and durability that we have come to expect from Glock.

Just a little over $600 including tax. I put a slip on Hogue grip and now it feels perfect - even tho I probably could just as easily have put on one of the backstraps for the same effect. :)

I like the RTF's grip except for the F#$%^ng finger groves (sorry long time rant I carry a gen 2 for that specific reason)

I don't like the slide coating though it is way to slick in my opinion might be great for keeping gunk off and a Tacticool finish but if you use the "top over" slide release method to reload or clear jams your hand flies right off We put grip tape on my buddies to "fix" the problem the old style finish die the same job but you could grip it and not slip with sweaty dirty hands under times of stress (like when being shot at)

I like the gun over all, but I will get a Gen 3 and send it to robar to get the stupid finger groves and thumb perch taken off and they can put a texture that sticks like fly paper back on it. I want a light rail that is the only reason for wanting a "newer" Glock 19 I have carried my old one for 16 years now and have shot about 25k rounds through it and the only thing that has worn out is the trigger at about 15k.
