I did some inquires with Wells Fargo. Apparently the last payment has to be made with a certified check mailed or a bank wire. I do not know why a simple online payment that get withdrawn from the checking account will not suffice. So that is an extra $30 for me. Also you can't use your escrow balance to be used to pay off the principal balance. They mail you a check up to 17 business days after the wire transfer.

Congrats, give them a call and tell them you want a cheaper alternative.

Congratulations.

Now write them a nice letter informing them you want your ORIGINAL note and mortgage back upon receipt of your final payment or legal action will result.

I made my last mortgage payment in may 0f this year with an online transfer from checking account, Wells Fargo mailed me the land title or deed and they were even nice enough to record the document with the state .;. no BS, no problems.

Congratulations! I paid mine off recently as well. It is nice to not have to pay the man.

Don't forget to let the auditors office and your insurance company know to bill you direct for property taxes and insurance now. It could take months for the official paperwork from the bank to get throught the system.

The deed is done. Now to figure out where to put the new money. Either in preps or some land property that can be used as a place of refuge later on.

Question...
let's say someone wanted to pay off their home with cash hidden at home.
For the sake of the question, let's say $50K or $100K
How would you bring that cash in to pay off the loan?

The real question who be why would you have that much frns? Much better to have it in gold. If you do have it in gold, then you get a check or wired transfer and pay off the mortage that way. Also really, even if you deposit more than $10k, they will investigate, but if they can't prove you didn't do anything illegal, they can't do anything to you. Or at least I hope so.
