Some guy was just beating on the rescue capsule with a hammer. Seems like a low-tech operation going on.

not sure how many they've pulled out, but yea, I don't think they'll stop until all are out ...cool to watch, one of 'em is getting ready to pop out now...that's something I couldn't do...

Yea...Carlos made it out.... ;D at this rate though, it'll still take over a day to get'em all out...

Oh great, looks like Michael Jackson died all over again. Non-stop media coverage...

Not trying to be insensitive, but this is WAY over covered.

Just the fact that they were able to survive for the amount of time that they were trapped underground in the mine and the mere fact that they are doing a rescue of live mine workers instead of doing a recovery of dead bodies does deserve a lot of media coverage in my opinion. That is simply amazing that they were able to survive this long trapped in the mine. I hope that they will be able to get everybody out.

As of 6:50 AM U.S. Eastern Standard time, I am just watching the internet live news feed in the OP but currently, there is a crowd that is waiting for the next miner to be rescued. I read from another online source and that source was saying that was saying that 8 miners have made it out.

The 9th miner just got rescued from the mine. I saw it on the internet live feed. This is very amazing to me.

i know this is serious real life stuff and all

but it's also a good distraction for some " behind the curtains " shenanigans today

It's great to see the miners rescued and reach celebrity status.
They and their families will be well cared for and compensated.
America loves a fairytale ending!
That being said...how are the victims of fraud and the Wall Street Banker induced Depression doing, the people that have been thrown down a mine hole with no hope of getting out?
Where is their happy ending and celebrity status?
How about our soldiers...are we cheering them on. Are they celebrities too? How are their families being compensated?

Exactly.

This is some of that stuff called "good news" that so many complain about never seeing on the News.

It's similar to the times that a little kid has fallen into a well and has to be rescued, but on a grand scale.
I can only imagine what their time down there must have been like. Especially those first 17 days, realizing how deep they were trapped and what the historical record had been when it comes to freeing trapped miners.
It had to be simply awful.

As far as beating on the cage with a sledge hammer? I saw that too and I'd call that, doing whatever it takes to make the thing work.
If it were here, it'd have probably been sent back to the drawing board for a week of re-engineering.

This obviously much of a prep and survival forum if this story doesn't at least pique the interest of the majority of our membership.

I haven't watched any of this nor have I followed it any more than listening to what is being said and I still find some intensely stimulating concepts within this event. I am actually very impressed that all those that survived the initial cave-in survived the wait.

I agree totally!!! Wow like we dont have any number of much more important news? All the coverage this story needed was a spot saying the rescue has begun... and another once they are all out. This is chile right? Why are our news media so focused on a country so far away? Easy to see I believe... There is way too much bad news for the powers to be that they need to misdirect our attention once again. Having said that I wish all the miners a speedy and safe rescue.

Within a storm of never ending doom and gloom being able to watch something good for a change is great!
Plus inquiring minds wants to know what is going to happen when the guy that has a wife AND girlfriend comes to the surface and has to face the music. ;D

The world may witness the first post fatality of that accident. :lol

It's nice to see something positive and real for a change. We all know the score around here - missing a few moments of doom and gloom is not going to change our level of awareness. Identify the media for the vampires they are and don't let it distract you from witnessing a genuine story of heroics. The same media will likely find a way to package this as false inspiration and then capitalize on the moment for other nefarious programming like they always do. Chile could teach us something about indigenous culture, but I suppose that's taboo in our come one, come all America. As a footnote - it's a gold and copper mine. These are some of the people that toil and sweat for our physical. If anything we owe them gratitude for helping to save our wealth from the hands of evil men.

Man last night some paranoia struck me. I got paranoid at the idea that 33 human beings were buried alive almost a mile underground.

I didn't really shake it off, either.

Glad they're out.

The mine driller from Colorado, Jeff Hart, is the hero in this story. He is the kind of American that makes me proud.

So many of the miners are coming out clean-shaven, they must've sent down razors/mirrors.

They even asked for shoe polish! They wanted to look their best!

Now that is class. ;D

really? I missed those stories. Wonder if they trimmed their hair too? I thought they'd look a LOT shaggier after 70 days, but they really aren't.

Yea the whole works , cleaned up , shaved, polished shoes, cloths, they knew that the world was watching and did all they could to put their best foot forward and show some class. I kinda admire that!

if the story yesterday is valid, it was some London paper I think, was offering them £500k each, for their stories and a possible movie rights contract..

69 days buried underground, I couldn't do it. Good for them getting them out. This is good for Chile.

One thing I'll say, Chile is made up of all Chileans so this is very NATIONALISTIC and that's the way it should be. It's natural, and diversity doesn't work.
