View Full Version : Silver Surge Slaps $24
FunnyMoney
13th October 2010, 12:54 PM
Silver surges past $24 per ounce on stock market and commodities melt up.
Silver has no intention of lagging behind the general push up in prices denominated in today's fiat currencies. Fiat currencies and especially the US dollar are now under extreme pressure. Once it was considered, "In God We Trust". But then when that didn't allow central banks and central govts to steal enough wealth from the rest of the society, things changed to, "Backed by the Full Faith and Credit of a Nation". Credit being the key term here, we now see how this supposed backing is actually a negative reaction - the fiat currencies of the globe are today backed by the "Debt of a Nation" and by the "Full Faith that Future Workers Will Somehow Pay Up". Commodities markets have begun to realize that's not going to happen.
So as investors flee paper currency and move into anything not so deeply and deadly in the red, all eyes scan the globe for safety. Safety for some might mean oil, now just $17 away from the all important $100 price point. For others that could mean food and in general commodities, which have taken on big run ups lately. For the really big money it means gold and gold continues to methodically hit new high after new high while production concerns and worries over from where will come the next batch of sellers continue to mount. But the smart money, the silent secret protectors of wealth, we seek silver.
Silver, still at the price of a nice dinner, could be considered more rare than gold although gold is still over 57 times the price of silver. Silver, which by many measurements is under the greatest potential future demand pressure due to growing industry consumption, could also be considered one of the most strategic and important metals that exist on the planet. Silver, that has seen its above ground reserves and inventories depleted to the point where there no longer are any, is considered by most analysts to be the absolute smallest market cap commodity of such importance ever. Silver, which has now been mapped and searched for all over the globe, has a mining supply which is expected to be drained dry within the next few decades at the latest. Yet after all that, given all those amazing fundamentals, it still sells for less than it costs to fill up the average small economy car at your local gas station.
Silver slaps away at $24. Take that!
Beyond the supply / demand fundamentals, silver has a history of money not to be exceeded by anything, not sea shells, not wheat, not even gold. Fiat currency doesn't even hold a candle to it and this latest global attempt at fiat money backed by empty promises is barely even a half century old - silver, on the other hand, has over 5000 years of history behind it.
Revenge is in order.
Silver investors as a group won't stop at a mere $24. Even a single large entity could drive silver to many multiples of today's price per ounce of silver. Gold took out 4 digits and refuses to look back. But this will be silver's time and silver is going to slap around anyone and everyone who doesn't believe it.

I remember sweating over pennies buying on the dips when silver was $6.90 and gold was at $425...
It will seem just as ridiculous two years from now worrying about dollars on silver and tens of dollars on gold...
Avoid the rush... Panic now.
The dollar is toast.

HA!! I remember those days. I remember the wife giving me crap for spending almost $8/oz on silver since I had always bought it at 5 or less. What I'd do to buy silver at $8 today...

These moves up have been breathtaking 8) . I've been reminded of a post I read in the pm subforum. I wish I could find it. Anyway, an astute poster said that there will be a paradigm shift and the upward moves will be so great you will regret mentioning your holdings. Paraphrased. The original post said it much better.
