Where's a good place to pick up 100 ounces of silver?

Last time I purchased silver was on GIM from a member there, and since we did everything via PM I have no way of contacting him.

I'm just looking to get 10, 10 ounce bars. Any recommendation?

My guy usually has a pretty good supply of stuff like that, but it would be kind of a drive for you I think. I'm thinking there has to be a few coin shops in your area that could get you what you want.

LOL, spot is 24.32, and for physical you're generally going to be paying $1 over, so $25.32 is what people should offer at a minimum.

I paid 30 cents over spot for silver at my local coin shop in Southern California (Riverside)Friday. Picked up a couple 1/10 fractionals too(GAE and a Maple) for $140. each. The selection was huge since everyone was dumping. All the one ounce bars I picked up were Engelhards.

I 3rd this option too. Aside from what has already been said, they have odd weights available too like 2 and 3 ounce bars.

Buy locally from a coin dealer if the price is right. If not locally, then APMEX might be another option but watch out for the shipping costs. Maybe check out another online dealer called Provident Metals (http://www.providentmetals.com/).

Just curious, did your A-Mark bars look that shiny or did they have tarnish on them? I bought some 10oz A-Mark bars from APMEX and they were tarnished in spots even though they were in "not-so-new-looking" plastic bags.

Were they tarnished or did they have a milky look? I know my maples, and philharmonics, the shiny coins tend to look milky after awhile. I don't know if it that's the case with bars though.

I have some "milky" coins as well, but not the A-Mark. They were definitely tarnished.

A long time ago I did some research about the "milky spots" and from what I remember it is caused by the minting process - some sort of residue. None of my silver polishes removes them, and neither does the ol' aluminum/baking soda. I have milky spots on Maple Leafs and Philharmonics.
