It could and DC operated equipment will become gold if it survives. All my ham gear is so and have a couple stashed in some large metal mil ammo cans. Inverters will also become gold.

Yes EMP fries everything electrical. Depending on frequency can even destroy objects located within a Faraday cage (Hard drive for example). But that requires EMP in the microwave range.

Simple components no, but there's not that much you can do with the simple ones, as compared to what we've become used to doing. Might as well go back to morse code because you're not getting voice transmission without transistors or at least vacuum tubes.
