This album is kind of a mish-mash of sounds, so I can't generalize. The title track, "National Ransom", is pretty good. Elvis has some crazy lyrics in his songs, which makes them hard to sing along to (usually a strike against a song in my book), but the message of this one is fairly clear- he's ticked about the state of the economy and the shenanigans of those who put us in this pickle. I like the song "Five Small Words", which has a bit of a twang to it. I found myself counting the five words on my fingers like a first grader every time he sang another set of them ("Don't you want me anymore?" and "Well, who is keeping score?"), although the two syllable words through me off initially, bumping me back to kindergarten. "You Hung the Moon" has a sweet, old fashioned sound to it, including that crackly sound that old record players make. "I Lost You" is catchy and sounds like the Elvis of yore back when he sang "Veronica", which is not a bad thing.

If he would have stabbed Colbert in the dick he would be a GSUS. Just saying.

I'm sure almost all the rest of us do not enjoy that particular sort of homosexual violent fantasy. 8)

Like most trendy new atrosities, that one makes me uncomfortable as well.

STAB HIM IN THE DICK, ELVIS!!!11!!1!!11!!!

First there was "If you don't hold it, you don't own it"
Then there was "Bombers scanned me"
Now there is "Stab him in the dick"

I've often wondered if any of these memes would actually be covert enough to put on a button when I go to the range and see if I get anyone who knows - what's that? YOU are General of Darkness?! How about that. Don't jam your charging handle! ;D

He didn't get the message out clearly, and colbert was not very receptive to it.
