300 million people, 300 million ounces.

about 15 troy ounces per pound, 2000 pounds per ton = 30,000 ounces per ton (vs. per metric ton)

anyway, that would be about 10,000 English tons.

i thought annual production was 20,000 metric tons for silver (2400 metric tons for gold).

metric ton = 1000 kilograms, i think.

I wanna know just how much silver the Chinese civillians are buying...

Imagine if every Chinaman grabbed an ounce or two. Very possible with their government almost begging them to do it, they could buy up a billion ounces in a pinch.

I bought silver today, around $500 worth in a mix of rosy dimes, merc dimes, barber dimes, standing lib. quarters, a few morgans, a peace, a SAE, and a SML. I did my civic duty, now do yours!

Got the SML and SAE for $28, only $2 over spot. Made me happy, thought that was a decent price! Both 2010s

Stacker, I heard that NWTM was very slow on delivering. I was reading that it took 4-6 weeks (or longer) for them to deliver. Maybe that has changed since that time that I read about that.

The projected ship date on the order was Dec 17th. The 4-6 week delivery time doesn't bother me, as they always deliver. Shipping is free, no extra charges for using CC. That is their online store link, so you can buy smaller orders, their 50+ oz purchase prices are here: http://bullion.nwtmint.com/silver_panam.php

This obviously isn't news to us and others.
This was a fact we understood a long time ago.

And silver is disappearing, and gold, Mint can't keep up, etc.
Record levels.

This news is going mainstream, even WRH I give credit to,
only started posting economic news a lot in 2007 .

Imagine being in the know in late 90's, some were. Not me.

Buying calls on COT bottoms really burns them too,
imagine buying far out call, close to the money,
you could of did that in 2006, 2007 and 2008,
like in Oct 2008 you could of had $ 5 - 6 K powder
for the setup for one call, buying May or July 2009
calls + 15 % strike for roughly $ 1.00 - 1.20 .
Imagine if 1000 people did that, 5 million ounces
they would need to pay up on. Like free money.
$ 11 - 12 strikes. You don't even need to pick
the bottom perfectly, it is short lived anyways.
Almost all bottoms have been inter day, correspond
directly with COT bottoms. If 7-9 months makes you feel uncomfortable
go out farther out on the months. Make sure it is close to
the money. I called the bottom
2008 in real time thread, May 2008 to Oct 2008,
and I did all of the above, I told people, " free money ".
Another opportunity may come. Wait for it.
Just some ideas, do your own DD.

Record levels.

i think people who may have bought their silver at $5 an ounce, as an example, are looking at the rise to $29 - and seeing the pullback to $26 - and they're buying more.

that in addition to all the new buyers ==>

i think we'll be seeing a crunch/ shortage (crunchy shortage ?) within 3 months, between old buyers returning to the market to buy on dips, and the new buyers, and the new wealthy buyers who buy a ton at a time ... sometimes of gold.
