Stay safe chad. MN opener was a few weeks ago, and there have been several mishaps/kills of hunters. Also a few bodies discovered by hunters traipsing in the woods.
Hope you're enjoying venison soon!

Any Hmong tribesmen from Minneapolis make it down your way?
Be careful out there.

The problem we're having in the mountain northwest is wolves. They have eaten most of the elk. The feds introduced these diseased (hydatid) Canadian wolves in the eighties and now we have 1/10 the elk we had.
I call it the "Federal Elk Extermination Program". They want to reduce the number of citizens who hunt so there will be less resistance to gun control.

Have fun Chad. Just got back from a 12 day hunt stradling the bow and rifle seasons. Took 2 small bucks with the bow, and my dad filled his tag on opening of rifle. Got a bonus a few days before the season with my honda civic magnum :o....did about 5k damage. Buddy driving behind me said the buck went about 10 feet straight up, and when he drove thru the impact zone it was like driving thru a hail storm as the glass was falling out of the air. Funny thing was, I butchered the deer and it virtually had no meat damage. Woohooooo. I'd recommend using the .270 though. ;D
Stay safe, and let us know how you made out.
