...Something new at the Depot..well at least around here..when you use the "self-checkout" lanes, theres a small, maybe 8" X 8" monitor screen that you can see yourself in...so theres a camera mounted somewhere, apparently it's activated when you scan your item...on the way out I asked if it keeps an image of the customer and was told it did...so Now they can put a face with a credit or debit card transaction...even a cash transaction for that matter...at that rate...HD will be collecting your DNA soon... :D

yea, I know that...but this captures your image at the self-checkout lanes when you transact and I was thinking, when or IF you use anytype of CC or debit card, it will tie your image in with your account..so now they potentially have ALL your credit Hx. personal Hx and a current image of you...

Check it out Lou...and bring us back some intell ;D

I can do the same thing in my little liquor store, it's easy to match up the time stamps and it'd be very easy to build a data base with just a bit of tweaking.

Cool avatar willie.

This is just the last straw for me. I'm going to try and do EVERY transaction in cash from now on.

just heard a commercial on the radio where Lowe's is matching our offers of no interest for 18 months on all appliances. Copycats. To be fair though, we copied them and matched them on the $37 whole house carpet installation. :P

That's bullish on America's future.

I've been doing this for years and much prefer it - would never go back. However, in regards to this thread, using cash vs. credit/debit makes no difference. Your picture is taken regardless, and if TPTB want a complete BG/Hx on you, it's as easy as pie. Facial recognition software ftw.

Yea VP, I was going to mention that, IF you use those "self check-out" lanes, doesn't matter if you pay cash or not, when you SWIPE the product it activates the camera, the only thing with paying cash would be they wouldn't have your name or life history..

I avoid buying at big box ZOG stores whenever possible, but sometimes I have to. If I have a cart full of merchandise and I don't like the speed or manner in which they check customers out, I just leave the cart there. That might be something one could do daily, like on your evening stroll.

Sometimes when I need a power tool I'll buy a top of the line model at China Depot and return it when I'm done..."defective merchandise".

Every ATM has a camera in it, and so does every bank teller's line.

If you're using a CC at all, your face is already out there.

China Depot, ha!
I am very much anti-turd world products and very pro 1st world country products. Construction hardware is one of the few industries left that you can still get the majority of your merchandise made in Amerika. The only other ones I can think of are beer and ammo.

Shoes are about the hardest.

Regardless you had best bring your fscking checkbook (ie it's expensive to buy domestic).

Yea I know....first time I've seen it at a retailer though...it wouldn't surprise me if now when you walk into a HomoDepot...an electronic voice greets you by your name.... and asks how the wife and kids are... :D

Avoiding Chinese merchandise has driven me to shopping at garage sales and pawn shops.
