Black Friday is the U.S. consumer version of the running of the bulls. I am just going to stay far away from a mall and from big box retailers because 1.) I do not want to get trampled and 2.) I am too FRN challenged to spend several 100's of dollars to buy lots of stuff from big box retailers.

I just simply do not understand the reason why people get up at, for example, 3:00 AM to wait in line for several hours in cold weather in front of a big box retailer to get an object that is only 50% off of retail price. My sleep is much more important than buying some Chinese-made item at 50% off from Best Buy at 3:00 AM.

but , but , but at 50% off that big screen tv that was $600 last week is now the same tv and 10 silver art bars for the same price .
Sounds better that way doesn't it .
Too bad I don't believe that being able to see the actors nose hairs in HD will improve my viewing experience or I'd be there for the new Tv and silver combo.

I worked in a dept store as a kid. On Black Fridays I'd have to get to work a few hours before opening and you'd see those losers lined up around the building. Some would start lining up at around 1 am.

For some reason I liked looking at them looking through the doors. It was like looking at fish in a fish bowl, except the eyes of fish display more intelligence.

Yeah it might sound better that way but I do not want to get up at 3:00 AM and wait in line for many hours in the cold weather. I do not want to go through all of that to get a deal on anything. I am just a lazy BUM. ;D

Not alot of difference between the people standing in line at 1am waiting for the doors to open at 5am except they get trampled at 5:00.02 am than the people that wait in the cold for days , yes days for tickets to a 2 hour basketball game or concert .
I wouldn't do either one anymore but black friday did make me several dollars years ago buying and reselling to the ones that didn't want to wait in line at 1am .
Some College students will do anything for a buck.

Really? Not even if the "deal" was for 1970's silver art bars at 50% off?

I will celebrate Black Friday by remaining in bed as long as I can stand it and then proceed directly to black coffee and a some stout beers. I am looking forward to Black Friday!

Nope because I am a lazy BUM and I do not want to get up at 3:00 AM to wait in line for many hours in the cold weather to buy '70's silver art bars at 50% off. I am a cheap person and I love collecting '70's silver art bars but I do have limits as to how far I will go out on a limb to get a good deal on '70's silver art bars.

That is a good plan SLV^GLD and I also plan to stay in bed and just turn on the TV news and watch the Black Friday shoppers trample over each other in the early morning hours to get that Chinese made product for 50% off retail price. :D

Yeah but Stacker I have a "handicap" that prevents me from getting up at 1 am and standing in line for 1/2 price silver (or for anything else for that matter). My "handicap" is that I am a lazy BUM. :D :D :D You are a better person than I am Stacker. I could not do it.

The only "shopping" that I like doing is going to a coin show and looking for and buying '70's silver art bars that are on my wish list. I do not like Black Friday and other "shopping". I will NEVER participate in Black Friday. It will be very interesting to see how this Black Friday will turn out this year since the economy is in bad shape with high unemployment. I predict that Black Friday for the retailers will be much worse than expected. After all, how many 99ers are going to get up at 3:00 AM to wait in line in the cold weather to buy some Chinese product that they do not need for 30% off retail price?

Im just pissed the gun stores dont have black friday sales. I mean, why cant I get that new kimber at 50% off or a new PSL for $200!

I MIGHT stand in a line for a deal like that. At least its practical!

My wife does do the Black Friday stuff, usualy with her mom, but she gets small things no one else really goes for because they are specific items like for her cameras or a new toaster oven or something lol. Think we got a crock pot for 15$ last year.

Ive never been myself, but I did work at a circuit city one year. My first day was Black Friday....it was an interesting experience, thats for sure. I think the funniest was an older black guy that tried to buy a Xbox, some 300$ total, with rolled change. Yes, not a single paper bill, all change. I suppose he was using the only lawful currency medium, but none the less, I was one of the ones chosen to count it all. He raised hell for 20 minutes until they finaly gave in and said "sure, we will accept 300$ in change during the peak of black friday, sir."

memories. ;D

Ok.
But what if there were a Coin Show on Black Friday, that for anyone who got there at 3AM, all the 1970's silver art bars that are on your wish-list would be readily avaliable and priced at 75% off spot?

Black Friday isn't bad if you are looking for something.
Thanksgiving Day offers some good deals at the drug store.
I got about 3 years worth of disposable Schick razors last year.
