Single here and all close family have passed on.
For the first time in almost 10 years I bought a turkey meal kit from my store, and will do a full blown meal, I suspect I will grow tired of it but what the hell, I have not been to or had a sit down holiday meal or other since i sent the most evil woman in the world packing ;D
Some devoices can be good! ;D

Dogman, if you live in SoCal you're more than welcome to spend it with me and my family. The food is great, but the entertainment is awesome.

Pretty much the same situation here Dogman, instead of the traditional fare I'll be cooking a prime 2in thick ribeye with taters on the side and ample cold beers to accompany it with. A newly strung guitar will provide the entertainment. Maybe a GSUS Thanksgiving chat is in order?

I typically have 3 bowel movements a day. On Thanksgiving I am generally looking at 5 maybe 6. :D
I ALWAYS shoot guns on Thanksgiving. This year I am going to break in a Browning Buckmark pistol I bought a few weeks ago and I'm also taking the shottie because the MIL says a gaggle of turkeys carelessly traipses right down her driveway about the same time every day.

I have an old Costa Rican classical guitar, I restrung it about 10 days ago and have gradually stretched and relaxed the strings since. Tonight I'll give it a hard tuning and in the morning a final tuning, perfection, just in time for a day of playing and writing. I do know what ya mean though, thus the unorthodox tuning method I have, crisper and mellower at the same time.

I plan to be on the road early tomorrow morning driving to my parent's house. Once I get there, I plan to just spend time with my parents and just talk and maybe help out with whatever. Me and my parents go out to eat on Thanksgiving day and that has been a tradition ever since I have been coming to see them on Thanksgiving day.
If the weather is decent, then I will plan to go out with my dad to the shooting range and shoot one of his pistols.
To me, Thanksgiving is a time for me to truly relax and get away from work for a while and to spend some quality time with my parents. I look forward to tomorrow.

Thanks MN, it really ain't all that bad and preferable to other situations that one could be in. I still have a LOT to be thankful for and I try to remind myself of that each and every day, not just one day out of the year. Hugs back at ya ;D

This year it will be just me, hubby and the boys. We sometimes have family here from out of state, but not this year. Must have's for me: turkey, green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole and pumpkin pie. The tough part is my kids won't eat any of it except for the turkey so I have to make extra sides for them (probably rice and peas or corn). And my husband won't eat pumpkin pie so I am making him an apple pie this year. We will most likely watch lots of football and drink beer and wine.
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you. If you do a Thanksgiving chat, I will join in.

I would like to wish Dogman and Liberty tree a Happy Thanksgiving, I will be going to my sister in laws, there will be lots of people there and we will make it fun for the little one.
But it won't be the same.... just going to get thru the day, and try to count the blessings I do have.
Happy Thanksgiving All

As my daughter in law would say SLV-GLD: TMI, haha.
We will have 4 of our 6 children and 10 of the 15 grandchildren out tomorrow. We raised some hogs in the creek bottom this year so will be having a huge ham, branding potatoes, vegetable of some sort, salad, fresh bread and pies. Our traditional horse and wagon rides or sled rides behind the 4-wheeler will not happen this Thanksgiving as it is far too cold!! ):
Blessings to all of you and safe travels. Make sure and share kind words and hugs to your loved ones, we never know when it might be our last chance.

I just use the recipe on the can of French's Fried Onions can:
Ingredients:
1 (10 3/4 oz.) can CAMPBELL'S® Cream of Mushroom Soup
3/4 cup milk
1/8 tsp. black pepper
2 (9 oz. each) pkgs. frozen cut green beans, thawed*
1 1/3 cups FRENCH'S® Original or Cheddar French Fried Onions
Directions:
MIX soup, milk and pepper in a 1 1/2 -qt. baking dish. Stir in beans and 2/3 cup French Fried Onions.
BAKE at 350°F for 30 min. or until hot.
STIR. Top with remaining 2/3 cup onions. Bake 5 min. until onions are golden.
It goes SO well with turkey:)

Yeah, everyone makes it slightly different. I actually use french style green beans and instead of just thawing them I actually cook them on the stove a bit before adding them to the casserole. There are lots of variations on allrecipes.com too.

Normally, I go to my oldest sister's house, where my middle sister insists on cooking elaborate side dishes, and complains about cooking at the same time - the entire time. Last year, my oldest sister and I started a campaign to go out to eat for Thanksgiving, just to avoid the constant bitching of the middle sister . . . but that went over like a lead balloon.
We usually have a spiral honey ham, corn on the cob, mashed potatoes, turkey. Plus 10 other side dishes, which I can't remember.
I am at EE_'s house for Thanksgiving, so it's going to be a surprise! ;D

I’m staying with the true American tradition this year. Some American Indians will come over and help cook up a feast for my people and I . . . . afterwards we’ll get them drunk and kill ‘em!

I'm really happy to read all these great feasts planned.
This will be my third year in a row missing Thanksgiving dinner, do to work. We usually have a big family get together, biggest was around 30 folks, flying in from all over the country. Alaska, Colorado, Texas...a big bird, ham, stuffing, so many side dishes everyone overeats. Then drinks, and enjoys many laughs.
I'm very thankful to have a wonderful family.
