Wow... the goons must be very proud of themselves... and I'm sure all his fans will be SHOCKED!! lol.

It's like busting Jeff Dunham with a stash of ventriloquist dummies...

I imagine it took the deductive reasoning of Sherlock Holmes to decide to check his bus for pot. ;D

He needs to be told what the misdemeanor amount is. Perhaps someone can scratch it on his guitar for him so he can remember. Guy likes a smoke, I'm ok with that but geez work it out Willie. Of course he'll get plenty of people to spliff him up once he get's to Texas.

On the smoke again.... I just like to get on the dope again. The life I love is making chit chat with my friends

And I can't wait to get on the dope again.

I hope Johny's not turning in his grave. I really enjoyed that show. The Highway men. Great stuff.

Only thing I could think of after seeing the headline is "Wow... the DHS just shot themselves in the foot again... way to go guys!"

:D :D :D

Willie Nelson may have gotten beer for his horses, but he allegedly got weed for his men, Border patrol agents said Friday.

LOL... did the BP agents really say that? Did they?

Seriously, when writing a "news" article, should accuracy be important? Or do witticisms trump professional journalistic methodology these days?

(Rhetorically speaking, of course...)

Let's all get a laugh at tax payer funded government force being used to deprive a man of the liberty to his own body.

Cause, you know, it's so freaking funny.

Not really what I was going for when I posted this article, and you should already know that about me...

The news here isn't that Willie Nelson got arrested for MJ possession (hence the YAWN in the thread title), it's that the feds actually saw fit to arrest him and extort money from him for release for something that isn't really considered a crime by the general population. As I said, I believe the DHS/BP have shot themselves in the foot here because it just exposes them as the petty, heavy-handed, extortionist jerks they really are.

I'm thinking Willie may have done this deliberately to draw more negative attention to the federal government and the fact their job seems to be harrassing and stealing from peaceful Americans. (TSA, et al)

At 2500.00 FRNs... I'd call that cheap advertising.

Alfred Adask stopped the Texas AG cold with a brief based upon the fact that Texas drug law is based upon "Man or other animals". The controlled substance they were trying to nail him on was colloidal silver. All food and drug laws (based upon FDA regulations) have an automatic 1st amendment remedy.

My commentary was not pointed at BrewTech but more at the ensuing posters who obviously missed the point.

Oh no, he's ingested a natural substance will likely have little to no harm against anyone but himself!!!

The horror, the horror! :sarc:

actually, that's a good point. it reminds me of what Eddy Lepp did. he grew some humongous marijuana plants on his land near the highway in North Central California. basically deliberately broke the law.

so the US gov. took all his plants and within a week he had a new collection of plants contributed by all the other growers in the area.

Eddy forced the government to show how far they were willing to go.

Willie Nelson is not a junior traveller so if they were bonging it up in his tour bus, he knew what the penalty could be.

Why did they pull over his bus in the first place ? was it speeding ?

This looks like it might be one of those border checkpoints , not on the border.
Unknown if Willie was even in Mexico.

This also crossed my mind. The biggest nemesis of law enforcement is a victimless crime.

I lived in Willie's county for decades. He's pretty well liked there and has started several businesses which failed because he's an artist. He's actually not really that great of an artist, most of his songs were written for him by others, some of which have really awful lyrics that he should have refused to sing. He's a good performer.

Border patrol looks the other way while millions of hostile foreigners invade the country, but ol' Willie better walk a straight line.

Strikes me as a waste of time and resources.

I don't know about that, hoarder. Willie wrote the Patsy Cline classic "Crazy".

This story really pisses me off. The government is out of control with checkpoints inside the borders, hassling and arresting people who haven't been across the border.

He'll grow up to be a failure if he keeps doing that!

If you smoke pot then the best you can hope for out of life is becoming a famous musician, president, or winning a shitload of gold metals. Why even bother to live?

Coincidence, not causation, book.

There are plenty of drug-free losers living in their parents' basement, too.

Is there any other bad habits you would like the state to criminalize, book? Overeating? Cursing? Masturbation?

He was on the interstate (http://maps.google.com/maps?oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&q=Sierra+Blanca,+Texas&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hq=&hnear=Sierra+Blanca,+TX&gl=us&ei=DePyTMfkB83OnAf0_t2ZCw&sa=X&oi=geocode_result&ct=image&resnum=1&ved=0CCIQ8gEwAA).

Busted with 6 oz. Heck that wouldn't last him and his crew through a week.

That depends if his desire for global forced DNA testing comes about, and how conclusive the race results will be.
