i've come to the conclusion that for hollywood + "our leaders," the united states consists of:

new york
new jersey
connecticut
mass
delaware
dc
maryland
florida (because they retire + vacation there)

and then there is a "vast swath of nothingness..."

...and then california pops back on the map.

the problem is that for most americans, their values come from the "vast swath of nothingness," not these 9 "highly intellectual" states.

this is a huge problem.
