i was doing a little research online and stumbled on this little beauty...comes with a hefty price tag though...but if i had the money, i think i could give it a good home...

...full deployment kits, you say??.....hmmmm
christmas is coming...lol ;D

click the "place an order" tab on their site to see the price list...

what i'd like to know is what other "shooting systems" would be somewhat comparable but more realistically priced? if there are others?

i know you get what you pay for, but there's got to be options, right?

I'd take the Sako TRG-42 in 338 Lapua

...nice choice...looks clean and solid.

but i would prefer the increased portability of the SRS in .338 lpm. the barrel length @ 26" is only an inch shorter than the TRG's 27 inches, yet is amazingly 9 3/4" shorter in the overall length department (37.5" vs. 47.25")

the TRG looks pretty awesome, but i'll stick with the SRS...

If some one was giving rifles out I would take the AS-50 as first choice even at 5 bucks a shot for quality ammo.

...still, when you can get DTA's own 338 lpm 300 grain Sierra Matchking ammo for $120/20 rounds ($6/ea... a comparable price) which will make targets 1 1/2 miles away, (see video) and also 308 Win 220 grain subsonics for $37.15/20 rounds ($1.85/ea.) for everything else between here and there, i remain unconvinced...still gotta give my thumbs up to DTA...they may just have a winner here, if they could only bring the price tag down a little...maybe in a few years...lol

I'm thinking that the bull pup style would take some getting used to if one was used to a traditional firearm. However the reduction in overall length while still keeping the same length barrel could prove advantageous in tight spots. Is it as accurate as a traditional bolt gun? The Sako model above is very highly respected although I don't own one. If I had the money I would buy one with the new Zeiss scope that recently came out...

...no question, a good scope is key...you won't likely hit anything you can't get a good look at. lol
for me personally, i have a tendency to lean towards versatility, no matter what i'm buying, it doesn't necessarily have to have tons of bells and whistles, but no matter how you prefer to put some lead down range, it'd still be fun on a bun!! lol

what i'm really curious about are other versatile platforms like the srs that can swap calibers in the field...any suggestions?

No doubt it is a great rifle but with 50 bmg you get the choice of hunting vehicles and light armor along with all the other targets also you get to put things in 50 cal bullets that make for even more fun.
