"Whatever the price of the Chinese Revolution, it has obviously succeeded not only in producing more efficient and dedicated administration, but also in fostering high morale and community of purpose. The social experiment in China under Chairman Mao's leadership is one of the most important and successful in human history."

---David Rockefeller, statement about Mao Tse-tung in The New York Times, August 10, 1973

Chairman Mao has always been held in high regard by TPTB. Not always so publicly but definately behind the scenes at least.

Every nation has a role to play. TPTB are "testing the waters" or trying out various control methods in nearly every corner of the globe. In the past, the USA has been a proving ground for the carrot and stick model with a skew towards instant gratification and a return of the acient Roman themes like games and revivals. Europe takes some of that and is where they test to see what works in terms of "giving up some liberty in the name of security."

In Asia, it's been mostly about raw force and an application of: "the ends do actually justify the means."

I am watching North Korea. One thing I know for sure: they get beyond this recent spat, no problem. They are possibly the most important modern day working model TPTB have. They are the long term goal. The society found inside today's North Korea is a dream come true for TPTB. They will be kept around to provide something to aspire towards.

No food resources, no economic power, and yet gets everything it wants. A truly successful experiment.

Nothing new, same kind of thing we used to do to our turkey. Fatten them up prior to the slaughter.
