Leslie Nielsen, who made audiences laugh with his ridiculous seriousness and deadpan deliveries in the absurd scenes of comedy films like Airplane! and Naked Gun has died. He was 84.

His agent confirmed that the actor died Sunday near his home in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., surrounded by his "lovely wife and friends" at 5:34 p.m. ET, due to complications of pneumonia.

Rest in Peace Leslie. Strange fact: His brother was Deputy Prime Minister of Canada.

If anyone has the time, this podcast is a fascinating audio glimpse of New York in 1958 when Leslie was a young struggling actor.

I remember flipping through the channels several years ago. I came across a Leslie Nielsen movie that I hadn't seen before, I was so excited. I waited in anticipation for punch lines, but they never came. He was dead serious the entire time. Can't remember the name of the movie. His funny stuff is hilarious.

Ah, that's just saddening.

I remember laughing at his performance in Airplane!

Rest in peace, Leslie Nielsen.

That particular movie, really was the basis for Star Trek series, In fact that storyline was used again in an episode.Leslie Neilson perhaps could have been the Captain Kirk Character
