BREAKING: Carport in Boise crashes down on Man, Car

BOISE -- The wet snow may have contributed to the collapse of carport in Boise Wednesday afternoon.

The structure fell on a man in his 80s while he was getting out of his car.

It happened at a home on Ustick Road near Maple Grove Road.

Wayne Young says as he was backing up when he accidentally bumped a support beam right before the carport toppled.

Neighbors saw it happened and helped Young. He is OK.

i'm thinking driving a car into the support beam may have caused it to fall down, not snow.

i get the point though. america is burning...car ports. :oo-->

Four years ago my car port fell on my two vehicles WHILE I WAS GETTING THE SNOW DOWN, it scared the hell out of me and it cost me $1,800 to repair them......didn't have insurance to cover that.

Think both!

It does not take much snow to add a lot of weight. 8.35lbs per gallon, even a couple of inches
on a small aluminum frame car port is heavy. Hitting the support pole weakened it just enough.

With a dry roof it would not have collapsed like it did.
