Any Ideas for such a destructive test? Any ideas for a newer non-destructive test? Needs to be portable and "easy to use."

=============================
Be careful you gold investors/buyers/scrap gold party hosts:

This new alloy is so good, it has gotten through the refinery and out into the retail fabricated jewellery channels. Nuggets are also being faked with this new alloy, (of course.) Same song, different verse!

24K bonded onto the outside of each item is so thick, it comprises 50% of the actual weight of the scam jewellery piece(s) or the man-made nugget(s). This new alloy is fooling streak testers, acid testers, and by extension Mizars and XRFs, reading apparently as 24K instead of 12K.

Besides the 50% Au content, the remaining 50 percent is known to be made up of Cu, Fe, and Rh to name but 3 contaminant metals.

Geographic location / resettlement cities, such as Vancouver, B.C., each has a TREEEEEMENDOUS population percentage of Hong Kong immigrants seeking asylum during the bifurcation of China for over 99 years while under British flag. It behooves all gold buyers/investors to look twice as hard at scrap gold offerings for purchase.

I had read this article yesterday and was blown away by the implications. This alloy is an extremely sophisticated gold mixture that includes osmium and other elements. It had to require extreme cost and sophisticated equipment to come up with this complex empirical allow solution. I have to suspect that this is the work of a government rather than private counterfeiters. Now that the formula is out, knock offs may become rampant. This is a huge problem. Anyone would buy larger bullion bars over reputable mint bullion coins is taking a gigantic risk.
