In that same bible, Jesus said if a man has no sword, let him sell his cloak and buy one.

Ponce if you ever get around to reading the Bible it will paint a nice little picture to protect yourself.
I also love telling the sheeple that defending oneself is not homocide if it gets to that point and theres no way out except to pulling the trigger.
The commandment "Thou shall not kill" is actually if translatedcorrectly back to "Thou shall not murder".
Unfortunatley we have pussy foot liberals passing laws that to defend oneself in now crossing the line as "manslaughter".

Huh ? Dem sounds like fightin' words right der .
One can hold a gun in their hand to defend themselves and a Bible in the other hand to bless 'em on their way out.
What part of the bible tells you to defend yourself? From what I've gathered the NT tells you to do the opposite. 'Turn the other cheek' AKA bend over.

If someone strikes you on the cheek he is treating you as a servant (with the back of the hand). Turn the other cheek to be struck by the palm instead of being backhanded (being treated as an equal as it were).

Thats turn the other cheek scripture is used way out of context.
The subject is Christ teaching that if you are out of line or stepping out bounds and pisses someone off to turn the other cheek and offer the other cheek. It humbling yourself to your wrongful ways. Take your punishment for being out of line.
Now if a thug comes your way brandishing a knife/gun with intentions to harm you........by all means pull the trigger and if he continues his attempt send his ass to answer to the Creater.

Some enemies need to be repelled physically, like thugs and looters, so you need a gun. Other enemies, including the true powers behind the throne, are spiritual in nature and require spiritual armor, so get yourself a Bible, study it and equip yourself with the armor of God, for "we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."

how do you find a Bible that has not been re-written by the Jews (who have corrupted most of American Christianity, along with the Catholic & Lutheran churches) to promote their political ends ?
i understand that people need to honor their ancestors, to have something in their life that is sacred, and so on - but so many versions of the Bible have been poisoned by criminal Judaism. (e.g. the Gideon's bible that is placed in every motel room - that's a lot of motel rooms.)
which version(s) of the Christian Bible has not been corrupted by the Jews ?

Matthew 5:39 "But I tell you, Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also."
Sounds clear to me. Don't fight back.
It goes on:
Matthew 5:40 "And if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well."
Not only should you not fight back, you should actually help your enemies destroy you.
I also love telling the sheeple that defending oneself is not homocide if it gets to that point and theres no way out except to pulling the trigger.
So you must wait until your enemy's knife is at your throat before you are allowed to practice violence? Sounds suicidal.

I was living in a private Catholic school from the age of 7 till the age of 12.........in every Sunday mass the preachers used to get me wet with his holy ball of water and one day when he got me wet I blasted away with my water pistol......two hours later I was on my way home.
I do have a Bible and I read it but only as intertainment and not to be "blessed"......you don't need a preacher, church or Bible to tell you when you have done good or bad.
The Bible is compose of different parts of different religions dating way back in time and put together by the "holy" ones.

I'll have to agree with Ponce here. I find it hard to believe in a "god". What makes the Christian bible any more believable than any other religion? What proof is there? My belief is that the one life we have on earth is the only one we'll ever have so might as well make the best of it...
Although that being said, my mom has always advised me to believe in him just in case. Kind of like how many people get religious when they get old and ready to die.. :oo-->

The King James Bible IS THE Word of God in English. Rejected by the Roman Catholic Church, Orthodox Jews and many protestants rest assume THIS IS THE ONE

I've always wondered how the God of a desert tribe pushed out the Gods of my people (Northern Germanic people). At least the old gods were more interesting as they had human characteristics. I see the Christians adopted many of the Germanic traditions and adopted them (ex. Christmas - which used to be a winter solstice tradition to celebrate/pray for the coming of spring. etc.).
As well, I always wondered what made the Jews the chosen people (according to the bible), and what made them better than anyone else??

See heres where you error Nunaem. You forgot to find the subject.
Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: 39But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. 40And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also.
The subject is this "An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:"
Christ is saying if you basically piss someone off and they strike you for it to not use evil and use with the eye for an eye mind set.
You did something wrong that may have been overbearing and just turn the cheek............its your fault.

The Bible works in non-confrontational situations where you have the latitude to be compassionate and selfless depending on the breaks. In a shooting situation it will also determine who lives and who dies, in the sense that any hesitation to contemplate the good word will likely result in ecclesiastic suicide. The struggle with the forces of good and evil gets harder the more aware you become, but in an armed defensive moment you should always pull the trigger first and deal with the redemption later.

i like the way the deity is portrayed in the movie Avatar - "Aywa"
though Aywa is sacred to them, they do not imagine Aywa to be omnipotent in the universe - just on their planet.
of course, they don't seem to write many things down.
getting back to the Bible - i assume the first recordings were not done in English. about the body of knowledge in the Kings Jame Bible, for example - when they wrote it, were they translating it from another language, e.g. Latin ?

The answers can be found quickly. Get a book. Read 3 fairly short chapters. Genesis (Chpt 1), Exodus (Chpt 2) And Deuteronomy (Chpt 5?).
If you read them you will be surprised. Especially by this:
As well, I always wondered what made the Jews the chosen people (according to the bible), and what made them better than anyone else??
I had this question floating around in my head about a week ago. I'm not a knowledgable person with the bible. But I read the first 2 chapters of it and was surprised. I was surprised because of what I have learned about usury and current economic problems and a few other things like monumental deceits = conspiracies. Chpt 1 & 2 were a revelation in that regard. It seems like some behaiours have not changed in 2000 years.
I asked the same question you did and my personal voice was pretty insistent I read Deuteronomy. Well, what a revelation that was.
My knowledge of the bible came from tv cartoons shown on easter tv and so forth. I had some basic idea of the key stories like Joseph and his coat. Little did I know that the bible rivals the best that the tv soaps and tv crime shows have to offer for drama and intrigue. It gets a bad rep with people who believe other people and don't want to be considered nerdy or "worse" but I think that is an unfortunate urban myth. It's actually not a bad read. I have fairly plain english one which probably helps readability at the cost of diluting some interpretations a little. There is no problem comparing different versions of the book IMO to get around that issue.
So grab one and open it up. Those couple chapters explain it and it's not much reading. I was surprised I can tell you.

5:39 But I say unto you, Do not resist evil (with evil): but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also (and thereby neutralize the evil with good).
5:40 And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have [thy] cloke also.
5:41 And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him two.
5:42 Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.
5:43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
5:45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
5:46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the tax-collectors the same?
5:47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more [than others]? do not even the tax-collectors so?
5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven IS perfect.
6:1 Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen by them: otherwise ye have NO reward from your Father which is in heaven.
6:2 Therefore when thou doest [thine] alms, do NOT sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites DO in the churches and in the streets, that they may have glory from MEN. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
6:3 But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:
6:4 That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret Himself shall reward thee openly.
6:5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt NOT be as the hypocrites [ARE]: for they love to pray standing in the churches and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
6:6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and WHEN THOU HAST SHUT THY DOOR, pray to thy Father in private (Enoch 56:5; Sura 7:55); and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
6:7 But when ye pray, use NOT vain repetitions, as the heathen [DO]: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
6:8 Be NOT ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, BEFORE ye ask Him.
6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name.
6:10 Thy Kingdom come. Thy Will be done in earth, as [it is] in heaven.
6:11 Give us this day our daily bread.
6:12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
6:13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For Thine is the Kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
6:14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
6:15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
56:5 Henceforward shall the holy people be told to seek in heaven the secrets of righteousness (Matt. 6:6; Sura 7:55), the portion of faith; for like the sun has it arisen upon the Earth (Matt. 24:27), while darkness has passed away. There shall be Light which cannot be calculated, nor shall they enter upon the enumeration of time (Rev. 10:6); for "Darkness" shall be previously destroyed, and Light shall increase before the Lord of spirits; before the Lord of spirits shall the Light of uprightness increase for ever (Rev. 22:4-5).
7:55. Call on your Lord with HUMILITY and in PRIVATE (Enoch 56:5; Matt. 6:6): for "I AM" loveth not those who trespass beyond bounds.
Rev 56:5 Henceforward shall the holy people be told to seek in heaven the secrets of righteousness (Matt. 6:6; Sura 7:55), the portion of faith; for like the sun has it arisen upon the Earth (Matt. 24:27), while darkness has passed away. The Elect and Jesus do not destroy darkness and live in the Light for ever and ever with out a big fight.
