Notice that the anti-gun ATF agent is Traver? He's Obama's nominated pick to head the ATF. If he bcome boss man then we have a real fight on our hands.

Obama names anti-gun extremist as next BATFE head

Nearly two years into his term, President Obama on Monday finally chose a director for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Mr. Obama will submit the name of Andrew Taver [sic], the special agent in charge of the bureau’s Chicago field division, to the Senate for consideration, the White House said.

... "That Traver's would be the name eventually submitted has been suspected for months, with the first (to my knowledge) to bring up the possibility being Mike Vanderboegh, back in early July. In that post, Mr. Vanderboegh documented some of Traver's hostility to the right to keep and bear arms:" ...

Nice catch Blade. I snagged this link from AR15.com and there were other posters there who had recognized him in the video. If anything it just makes me want to buy more carbines. And if Taver manages to circumvent the NRA these things will skyrocket in value. It's another reason I have most of mine chambered in .223 since it is such a common hunting round and subsequently less likely to be cut out of cartridge production.

if i lived somewhere where stray bullets were commonplace, i'd put plywood over the windows & the walls.

and if i couldn't afford plywood, i'd use plywood scraps.

thinking that a stray bullet that would go through a window would be stopped by 3/4" plywood - most of the time.

that NBC show is more like a propaganda piece than a news story.

it was interesting to see how the shooter went to Indiana to get the gun, using a forged ID.

I noticed the reporter mention how uncontrollable and inaccurate the AK was, while pretty much shooting from the hip. ::)

3/4 inch plywood will NOT stop a bullet...........

if i lived in a neighborhood like the one in the article, with drive by's & bullets flying around, what would you recommend putting on the windows - if i was on a limited income ?

how about 2 layers of 3/4" plywood with a piece of cheap steel plate in between ?

until they move, how can the more peaceful residents in these neighborhoods protect their families from stray bullets ?

there's got to be a way ...

Sand is cheap. A few inches of it will stop most bullets. One could get a bunch of those long tube-like sandbags and stack them half-way up the outside walls.

For pistol ammo, yeah a decent peice of hardened steel sandwhiched between two layers of plywood would be mostly sufficient, but for nearly any rifle round over a .22lr might as well put up peices of construction paper.

Sand bags would be the way to go. 6 inches of packed sand is usualy enough to stop most of the commonly found rifle rounds (by that I mean rounds that arent like the .50cal BMG etc).
