I just want Christmas to be over, but since I have the little one I have to do all the Christmas stuff, the biggest problem I have is shopping, cause I hate to shop, but this year I solved that, one of my girlfriends who loves to shop offered to do my shopping for me, her and her mother go to toys are us every friday! They call it fun Friday ! Presents are bought wrapped all I have to do is put the tree up!
So YEAH my shopping is done ! ;D

Well, the only present that I used to buy was a fresh fish for my kitty cat but now I no longer have to do that.........sorry to say............almost forgot, I do send a Chrismas card to IPAC every years and they never send me back a thank you........I wonder why? ;D

Ponce...as a cat owner myself, i can appreciate how you miss your companion. maybe this year, you could give yourself the gift of a new one...there are many unwanted animals out there that are in desperate need of a new home...
...and then you would have a furry friend that can share in the fun of watching vandals scatter when they try to mess with your sign!
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
(not season's greetings, or happy holidays, if you get my meaning) ;D ;D ;D

I picked my sister in law for the gift exchange. She's uppity, snobbish and slightly insane so I'll have to get her a post consumer gift from a thrift store. We butt heads anyway so this should be fun. :-*

I want to start a tradition of giving a cookie cutter to each kid every Christmas. I was able to find some beautiful copper ones yesterday.
I'm guessing they shouldn't go in the dishwasher? Anyone? How do you care for your copper cookware? Should they be hand washed?

All copper? If the handles are wood, hand wash, if anything else, you can machine wash. But hand washing
overall would be suggested.

Yes, all copper. No handles.

Yes, all copper. No handles.
Then over all good to go. But keep in mind the metal may have been treated, to preserve the finish. Some kind of coatings???. This would be a good question to ask playingwithfire she plays with copper.
I see not a problem with a dishwasher. The reason I wonder about coatings, is they are there to keep things shiny and to keep the metal from oxidizing (tarnish). So what ever you do you do not want to ruin them.
So I will hold with hand washing and using no abrasive at all when cleaning!

Thanks Free........if I were to do that I then would bring home two of them, that way they could keep each other company, I do have A LOT of cat food put away that I had for my cat for WTSHTF.
All three cats that came with me from CA would go out the cat door that I build for them upstairs and then use the ramp that I also build for them and then they would do their thing under the house, winter or summer.......with heavy snow I would use a long rake and open up a pathway on the roof.

Personally I have very few buys.
But every year I help organize a Christmas party for dozens of kids.
Everyone has fun. It's great.

...sounds like you loved/miss them alot, ponce...it would be a shame for you to further deprive yourself of having the companionship you so clearly enjoyed...
...and you already have the food...
...but, if you decide not to get another, the cat food you have stored would surely be a very welcome gift for some local N/P animal shelter...especially at this time of year...
just a thought.... :)

You have my sympathy, but for those who don't know, you can get some great designer finds at the thrift store if you keep your eyes open.
I found a vintage 60s silk scarf in the cheap $3 scarf pile, and a pair of $8 leather high heels from a designer whose shoes normally run between $300 and $1,000 a pair. There was a tiny nick on the heel, otherwise they were practically new.

One of the best things you can do for yourself ponce is to go to the local shelter and let some of the residents chose you! They will let you know what they think, all you have to do is listen to them. Yes If kittens they may out live you, you can take care of that in a will. I probably would have ended things except for my companions (non human) they take you for who and what you are and love you no matter what!
Get off our t/p stash and go find a kitten or two, two is good more action! and can keep each other company in getting into things to drive you nuts. ;D Having none and empty house, v/s sh*t happing all the time. Is a no brainier. They can help you stay young.

Uppppppppsssssssss thanks Dogman........I have to chage my will because $50,000 was for her, $500.00 a year for her food and Dr needed shots and $2,000 for who ever took care of her....after she die whatever money was left over would go to the animal shelter.
She had a micro chip that would had to be check out by a different Dr. every year to make sure that is was her.
Lapis?.......I have 75 full bags from the "Senior Thrift Store" in my town........a lot of rich retired people live here and he or she dies the almost new clothing goes to this store.........I have a coat, vest and two pans from a very famous maker that cost over $800.00 and about 5 ties that cost about $200.00 each....I have more clothing, for personal use, that I can use in my life time, oh, and old style jeans with buttons that sells for a lot on E Bay.

I stop by the local places mainly for quality cookware you can't find new anymore. One of the places has a sterling and silverplate box that I score sterling souvenir spoons from time to time. The last good deal was seven spoons for two bucks a piece.

MN Playswithfire say's she would hand wash the copper cookie cutters. But she also says she doesn't really think the dishwasher would hurt them either. DogMan is correct they probably do have a coating to prevent them from tarnishing.
On topic now...
Im ready as I will ever be. and ready for it to be over too. ;)
This year (and last) we are only buying gifts for the grandkids (PWF does it online)
And PWF makes gifts for others in the family. :)

I was surprised to find out that my name was included in my family's gift exchange this year. My dad knew that I'd rather not be a part of it, but he said nothing during the discussion because he thought it was heart-warming that my sisters insisted that I be included, no matter where on the planet I am. ;D That is heart-warming!
So, I just found out which names I drew, and let me tell you, I won the gift-exchange lottery! I picked my dad and my super cool brother-in-law.
No, I am not ready for Christmas, but I think I will be soon.

No Zappy, not ready !!
See, I HATE to shop, like you hate it.
So, I generally buy stuff online.
Well, some SOB somehow stole my credit card info & booked themselves a European vacation
and they bought some gay porn on my card.
I have only one credit card that I use for online shopping.
My credit card company had to close my account, so I'm not ready for Christmas cause I have
to go out amongst the Christmas shopping craziness & I will be miserable.
Thanks to the arse hole who tried to sheyit on my Christmas !!
No ya don't! Get yourself a pre-paid Greendot Visa card. I have one and it works like a charm.

Got every I need and more. The prepper in me has been cutting up some extra wood just in case. As for Christmas, we don't do it anymore. We send cards out to family and make our phone calls. I might send some homemade hot sauce to a couple people I really like this year. Wife makes all kinds of stuff and sends them to people all the time, regardless. We are sitting on a full load of wood, water, food, cats, dogs and chickens with plenty of work for both of us to do if we want to do it.
The family will probably send me some gift cards like usual, and I will use them. I don't really need them, and they don't need whatever I send them, so it's kinda like "call me and let's talk, or come visit" and that's the holidays.
Ponce - you should really get a couple kitties. All of ours are outcasts and strays. They all have their personality intact and are nice if they want to be.
Kitties for Christmas. Let us all pray for Ponce.

Quality is right.
At the thrift store you're likely to come across some rare gems from the 1960s and earlier that were made in the USA. Hand-stitched hemlines and linings, thick wool coats, and buttons made with natural materials.

Would't it be funny if Milehi picked up something from the thrift shop and gave it to the sister in law and it ended up to be something she had dropped off!!! Sorry couldn't resist the thought.

Too funny! It reminds me of a book drive at my son's school recently. I bought some used books to donate and he came home with a book that I had just donated:). Of all the books there, he had to pick the one that I sent in. :)
