Came across this conraption. I hadn't seen anyone else talk about oil extractors for seeds. There are a couple of vids of what they do.

I think I might have convinced one of my buddies to get one and combine an order. It is a lot cheaper to get 2 than 1.

May be cheaper/easier to just buy off of eBay.

how big is the bottle? it's obviously got a maximum size you can fit under there.

i like it though. I'd like to see one using a hydraulic ram.

Maybe soybeans. They are very common acros most of the country. I've always figured that's what I would use if I ever tried biodiesel. It could power the machinery that grows the crop. Could be very valuable in SHTF.

sunflower
flax - AKA tow, Linen
peanuts
hemp seed
canola seed

anything that will fit.

also you will have a mash left over after the oil is extracted. if you have any pets or farm animals - which seed mashes will they eat ?

i looked at one large commercial oil press, $8000. used a screw feed - like the Piteba. diesel powered, can be run off of oil that it extracts.

BWAHAHA - "2 liters per hour". and many blisters later ... it helps if you have a kitchen worker to turn the crank for you. by the time they extract 2 liters - they will be thinking about workman's comp, or, at least a day off.

i planted about 1/2 acre of sunflower & peanuts this year, specifically for biodiesel. i have an idea ahead of time of what i will learn - that extracting diesel fuel from bio-sources is a LOT of work.

the average yield for commercial sunflower oil is 25 gallons per acre.

i like the Piteba a lot because it can be scaled up, the technology that is.
