I'd like to get a shell but there's so many versions.

I'm going to be hauling dogs in the back so what I'd like to be able to do is that since I've got a split rear window allow both heat and AC to get to the back. Here's my truck, a 06 Dodge Cummins 4x4 with the standard bed.

Also, what should I expect to spend and does trying to heat or cool the back even possible?

GoD, I have a Leer on a full-size Ford. the shell works fine - no moving parts ?

the wires & mounting for the brake-light are real light-weight - something to maybe epoxy in place if you get a Leer.

Unless you put a gasket between the sliding rear window and the shell, you will never heat or cool the shell. I have the same truck as you with a long box, and where I live the shell comes in very handy due to the rain we get here.

The shell can get in the way if you need to haul something tall like a fridge or something similar, so make sure the one you buy is easily removable if you move things on a regular basis. Also, make sure to paint it the same color as your truck so it doesn't look retarded :D

I have a Leer on a Silverado. I like it a lot. The only issue is the wiring for the brake lights is not very secure. But it is solid, no creaking, water tight, etc. I have never removed it.

Same here as Frank but with my little Toy pick up, being there for the past 20 years with no proble, and advantage of having the back windo open is that you can talk to your dogs or throw your kids bad there from the cab if they give you a hard time hahahahahahahah.

I got the Snugtop w/the Bedrug because I liked the features and looks better.
Better (rotory lock) window locking system. The Bedrug was worth the $ too.
I think you'll spend about $3,000, but worth it!
