G Liddy pitching gold in a commercial on of all things MTV.
What does that say about gold?

It says it is time to dump it if people are holding it as an investment. If people are buying it as part of their SHTF prepping, then the commercial should be ignored.

It says neither of that.
Liddy is trying to make a buck off the rising gold market.

Of course the MTV commercial is not going to say what you just quoted in my previous post. I did not mean literally. I probably should have written that better. If you think about the demographic group that usually watches MTV, then you will see what I mean. I have seen other gold touting commercials on CNN and the Liddy one on MTV is probably the same as the one on CNN. The only difference is the pitchman. This Liddy gold TV commercial on MTV is, in my opinion, no different than the late '90's TV commercials about online investing on tech stocks that were appearing on non-financial cable programs when tech and dot-com stocks were going through the roof. When you have TV gold commercials (such as Liddy for example) appear on every cable station, then eventually everybody (the masses) will try to jump on the gold bandwagon because it is going up. For the people who treat gold as an investment, the "dumping gold comment" in my previous post was just my way of saying to get out of it when everybody is trying to get in. The other part of my comment just meant that the Liddy gold commercial is just "noise" that interferes with the SHTF preppers who buy gold as part of their SHTF prep plan.
Of course Liddy (and others) are making money off of the rising gold market by touting how it is a "good investment". Who isn't?

He is just another pitchman and a felon to boot.
I am wondering if this was a nationwide ad or just a select market ad.
What company was it for and what time was it aired?
Last question. Why in the hell are you watching MTV? :D
