The Taliban attempted to follow an extremely strict and fundamentalist interpretation of Islam but they also had a strong homosexual culture and took boys as concubines. The leadership tried to curb this activity by officially banning the practice but it still continued. That’s not a surprise considering the Afghan culture has had a long history of pederasty. The following quote from the photo essay made me burst out with laughter:

“When a crow flies over Kandahar, he only flaps one wing. With the other wing he covers his tail.”
