...they prove me wrong.

The notion is: poodles are incapable of doing protection work (bite work), therefore calling someone's dog a "poodle" is supposed to be an insult.

Really.

My coin shop guy has always had poodles for guard dogs, but without the hairdos.

Poodles are HUNTING DOGS.

They have those burly coats so to be able to glide through thorn filled thickets with utmost speed in search of query .

Those same coats also serve as insulation when retriving fowls from the bone chilling water.

Poodles are the most cross bred dogs on the planet strictly because of their high intelligence.

The Author is dummer than a bag of rocks......

Standard poodle was the first dog to ever bite me. Chased me down on my bike, hit me on the calf, wiped me out.

I have two miniature schnauzers, a cross between the poodle and the standard schnauzer. They are incredibly smart and cunning. Also, they have a remarkable range of emotions and are extremely empathic towards humans.

I'm going to be a contrarian here, but my in-laws have a poodle and it's the cowardliest, weakest little dog I've ever seen. It rolls over and submits to anything it thinks is looking at it. It yelps and runs away any time it's startled by the smallest thing, and the only thing it's good at is hiding. It's a smaller poodle, not the same size as the one midnight rambler showed in the first post. Does the size of the poodle make a difference?

Poodles are known to be vicious and aggressive.
They have been used as guard dogs for years.

I think they're as ugly as sin, but whatever....

I read that poodles had higher bite statistics than any other breed.

I think your in-laws probably have a toy poodle - not the same thing as a standard poodle. Of course there can be variations in any breed, e.g. most Dobermans are not really Dobermanns as intended by Louis Dobermann. They are submissive urinators, Labradors in Doberman suits, completely unsuitable as effective protection dogs. Probably less than 5% of dog owners can come close to handling a serious Dobermann. Presently GoD is one of those 5% as he has one very serious Dobermann.

Hahahahahaha! Best pic ever. Thanks for the laugh.

(No I am not a poodle owner or enthusiast. I think they're retarded, but I know they are capable of being viciously good guard daogs)
